Abstract
Picasso 20. Yüzyılın en önemli ve ünlü sanatçısıdır. İspanya’da doğan ve sanat yaşamını Paris’te sürdüren sanatçı 2. Dünya savaşı öncesinde Guernica kasabasının bombardıman ile yok edilmesini yaptığı dev eseriyle ölümsüzleştirmiştir. Bugün Madrid’de Reina Sofia müzesinde yer alan 8 metre uzunluğundaki eser abidevi bir resimdir. 19. yüzyılda başlayan modernizm 20. Yüzyılın başlarında hızlanarak Empresyonizm, Kübizm, Fovizm, Sürrealizm, Ekspresyonizm gibi pek çok modern sanat akımının doğmasına imkân tanımıştır. Picasso Cezan’ın “Ben doğayı geometrik formlar olarak görüyorum” sözünden yola çıkarak Kübizm akımını başlatmıştır. Yaşadığı dönemde şöhret için her yolu deneyen Picasso kısa sürede aradığı ün ve şöhreti yakalamış hatta Komünist partiye de üye olmayı ihmal etmemiştir. 2. Dünya savaşı öncesi ana vatanı İspanya’da yaşanan Guernica katliamı onu derinden sarsmış ve bu insanlık suçunun unutulmaması için abidevi eserini ortaya koymuştur. Bu çalışmanın amacı Picasso’nun Guernica tablosunun incelenmesi ve içerik analizi yöntemiyle çözümlenmesidir.

Abstract
Picasso is the most important and famous artist of the 20th century. The artist, who was born in Spain and continues his artistic life in Paris, immortalized the destruction of the town of Guernica, which was experienced before the Second World War, by bombardment with his work. Today, the 8-meter-long work in the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid is a monumental painting. Modernism, which started in the 19th century, accelerated at the beginning of the 20th century and allowed the birth of many modern art movements such as Impressionism, Cubism, Fauvism, Surrealism, Expressionism. Based on Picasso Cezan's words "I see nature as geometric forms", he started the Cubism movement. Picasso, who tried every way for fame during his lifetime, caught the fame and fame he was looking for in a short time and even did not neglect to be a member of the Communist party. The Guernica massacre that took place in his homeland, Spain, before the Second World War, shook him deeply and he revealed his monumental work so that this crime against humanity is not forgotten. The aim of this study is to examine Picasso's Guernica painting and to analyze it by content analysis method.
