Abstract
Tüm dünyada yaşlı nüfus oranı giderek artmakta ve nüfusun yaşlanması ile birlikte hem genel olarak toplumu hem de doğrudan yaşlı bireyleri olumsuz yönde etkileyen sosyal sorunlar daha görünür hale gelmektedir. Sosyal sorunlara maruz kalma durumu ise yaşlı bireylerin farklı yaşam deneyimlerine sahip olması ile bağlantılı olarak değişkenlik gösterebilmektedir. Yaşlı bireylerin yaşam deneyimlerindeki farklılıklar cinsiyet, yaş, medeni durum, eğitim, gelir gibi faktörlerin yanı sıra yaşadıkları mekândan da önemli ölçüde etkilenmektedir. Nitekim mekân hem kendine has özellikleri itibari ile hem de mekân ile kurulan ilişkiler doğrultusunda yaşlı bireylerin yaşamında belirleyici bir özelliğe sahip olmaktadır. Bu doğrultuda sosyal sorunların mekândan bağımsız düşünülmesi de pek mümkün görülmemektedir. Buradan hareketle çalışmanın amacı, yaşlılığa bağlı sosyal sorunları mekânsal bağlamda değerlendirmek ve incelemektir. Literatürde yaşlılık ve mekân ilişkisini ele alan sınırlı sayıda çalışmanın bulunması ve özellikle yaşlılıkta sosyal sorunların mekânsal bir perspektifle kırsal ve kentsel alanlar temelinde karşılaştırmalı olarak ele alındığı çalışmaya rastlanılmaması bu makalenin özgün yanını oluşturmaktadır. Böylece bu çalışmanın, yaşlılıkta sosyal sorunların analizinde mekânsal boyutun dikkate alınması konusunda yapılan değerlendirmeler ile literatüre katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir. Ayrıca hem kırsal hem de kentsel alandaki yaşlı bireylere özgü sosyal politikalar geliştirilmesi konusunda bir farkındalık yaratması beklenmektedir.

Abstract
The proportion of the elderly population is increasing all over the world, and with the aging of the population, social problems that negatively affect both society in general and directly elderly individuals become more visible. Exposure to social problems may vary depending on the fact that elderly individuals have different life experiences. Differences in the life experiences of elderly individuals are significantly affected by factors such as gender, age, marital status, education, income, as well as the place they live in. As a matter of fact, space has a determining feature in the lives of elderly individuals both in terms of its unique features and in line with the relations established with the space. In this respect, it is not possible to consider social problems independently of the place. From this point of view, the aim of the study is to evaluate and examine the social problems related to old age in a spatial context. The fact that there is a limited number of studies in the literature dealing with the relationship between aging and space and that there is no study in which social problems in old age are discussed comparatively on the basis of rural and urban areas with a spatial perspective constitutes the original aspect of this article. Thus, it is thought that this study will contribute to the literature with the evaluations made about considering the spatial dimension in the analysis of social problems in old age. In addition, it is expected to raise awareness about the development of social policies specific to elderly individuals in both rural and urban areas.
