Abstract

Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the problems experienced by students who are citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan and come to Turkey for graduate education, how they solve these problems and their suggestions, if any, regarding the solution of these problems. In this study, which is a qualitative-descriptive case study, data were obtained from 15 volunteer participants through interviews. Thirteen of the participants are enrolled in or graduated from a graduate-level program. Two students are enrolled or graduated from a doctoral level program. Each of the participants was given a code and the collected audio recordings were converted into text. Then, tables were created and interpreted in line with the research questions. In addition to students who do not have problems with the education and training process, there are students who have problems; It was understood that those who had problems tried to solve the problems they encountered during the teaching process by doing internet work, memorizing the course topics, and doing additional work and exercises. While 11 students stated that they had no problems with socio-cultural adaptation, four students stated that they had problems. It has been determined that the sources of the problem are due to language-based communication and the measures taken due to the pandemic. Four students reported problems with financial, administrative and official transactions. In addition to the misdirection of the civil servants, the problems caused by the increase in wages were stated. One student also stated a problem arising from the dormitory he stayed in. They stated that the participants mostly solved their accommodation problems by renting a house together and a few students staying in the dormitory. However, it has been determined that there are participants who have problems with renting a house or accommodation. In addition to the identified problems, it was seen that the solution proposals were compatible with the relevant literature.
