Abstract
With the disintegration of Yugoslavia, the change in the dominant power in the region and the Balkan countries, where the great powers played a more active role, took the necessary steps to be included in the European Union. The Republic of Serbia's relations with the European Union started in 2000 and became official in 2008 with the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the European Union. Among the conditions accepted by the European Union, the most important ones are Serbia's relations with Kosovo, as well as the capture of war criminals and their trial at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. Although the conditions for creating the innovations required by the EU criteria seem to be in the background, they are steps that will be very beneficial for Serbia, which wants to become a member. After Croatia, which recently joined the Union, the European Union has foreseen the date of 2025 for Serbia and expects that it will continue to report until this year, and that Serbia will reach the level that will fulfill the necessary criteria on this path.

Yugoslavya’nın dağılması ile bölgede oluşan hakim gücün değişmesi ve büyük güçlerin daha aktif rol oynadığı Balkan ülkeleri Avrupa Birliği’ne dahil olma yolunda gerekli adımları atmıştır. Sırbistan Cumhuriyeti’nin ise Avrupa Birliği ile ilişkileri 2000 yılında başlamış, 2008 yılında ise Avrupa Birliği ile İstikrar ve Ortaklık Anlaşması imzalaması ile resmiyet kazanmıştır. Avrupa Birliği tarafından kabul şartları arasında en önemlileri olarak Sırbistan’ın Kosova ile ilişkilerinin yanı sıra savaş suçlularının yakalanıp Eski Yugoslavya Uluslararası Ceza Mahkemesi’nde yargılanması yer almaktadır. AB kriterlerinin gerektirdiği yenilikleri meydana getirmek şartları ise ikinci planda gibi görünse de üye olmak isteyen Sırbistan için oldukça fayda sağlayacak adımlardır. Birliğe son katılan Hırvatistan’ın ardından Avrupa Birliği, Sırbistan için 2025 tarihini öngörmüş ve bu yıla kadar raporlamaları sürdüreceğini, Sırbistan’ın bu yolda gerekli kriterleri yerine getirecek seviyeye gelmesini beklemektedir.
