Abstract
İnsanlığın varoluşundan itibaren ölüm ve yok oluş evrensel problemler arasında yer almıştır. Bu bağlamda bunun tam tersi bir amaç olan ölümsüzlüğe ulaşma çabası insanı üretmeye, dönüştürmeye, nesneleştirmeye ve imgeleştirmeye itmiştir. Sanat var olduğundan beri Hans Baldung, Francisco José de Goya, Frida Kahlo, Damien Hirst, Caravaggio gibi birçok sanatçı ölüm temasını çalışmalarında konu olarak kullanmıştır. Sanat tarihine bakıldığında ölüm sanatta en çok kullanılan temalardan biri haline gelmiştir. Ölüm kavramının sanattaki yerini anlayabilmek için ölümün tanımını, dinlerdeki yerini ve eski zamanlardan itibaren bu kavrama yüklenen anlamı kavramak gereklidir. Hazırlanan bu çalışmanın amacı, ölüm kavramının sanatın gelişim sürecindeki işleniş şekillerini farklı çalışmalar üzerinden açıklamaya çalışmaktır. Bu bağlamda çalışmaya konu olan sanatçıların üretmiş olduğu sanat eserlerinin ölüm olgusu üzerinden değerlendirilmesi önemlidir. Çalışma, bilimsel araştırma yaklaşımlarından olan nitel araştırma yöntemine bağlı kalınarak, literatür taraması metoduyla oluşturulmuştur. Literatür taramasında konu ile ilgili tez, kitap, makale ve yayınlar incelenmiştir.

Abstract
Death and extinction have been among the universal problems since the existence of humanity. In this context, the effort to achieve immortality, which is the opposite goal, has pushed people to produce, transform, objectify and imagine. Since its existence, many artists such as Hans Baldung, Francisco José de Goya, Frida Kahlo, Damien Hirst, Caravaggio have used the theme of death in their works. Looking at the history of art, death has become one of the most used themes in art. In order to understand the place of death in art, it is necessary to grasp the definition of death, its place in religions and the meaning attributed to this concept since ancient times. The purpose of this study is to try to explain the way the concept of death is processed in the development process of art through different studies. In this context, it is important to evaluate the works of art produced by the artists who are the subject of the study through the phenomenon of death. The study was created by the method of literature review, adhering to the qualitative research method, which is one of the scientific research approaches. Theses, books, articles and publications related to the subject were examined in the literature review.
