Abstract
Turizm sektörünün işletmelere ve bölgelere sunduğu faydalardan azami seviyede yararlanabilmek sunulan hizmetin kalitesiyle doğru orantılıdır. İnsan unsurunun çok önemli olduğu turizm sektöründe kaliteli hizmet sunmak turizm eğitimi almış nitelikli personelle mümkün olmaktadır. Bu doğrultuda yükseköğretim kurumlarında verilen turizm eğitiminin hem sektörün değişen ihtiyaçlarını karşılayacak yeterlikte olması hem de öğrencilerin turizm eğitiminden beklentilerine cevap verecek nitelikte olması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, önlisans düzeyinde turizm eğitimi almaya başlayan öğrencilerin turizm eğitiminden beklentilerini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Bu amaçla nitel bir araştırma gerçekleştirilmiş ve yapılandırılmış görüşme aracılığıyla öğrencilerin turizme bakış açıları, bölümü seçme nedenleri, turizm eğitimiyle ilgili görüşleri, staj uygulamasından beklentileri, kariyer hedefleri ve turizm sektörünün geleceğiyle ilgili görüşleri hakkında veri toplanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler öğrencilerin bölümü isteyerek ve sektörün gerektirdiği özelliklerin bilincinde olarak tercih ettiklerini, staj uygulamasını gerekli gördüklerini sektörde kariyer yapmayı hedeflediklerini ve mesleğin geleceğiyle ilgili olumlu bir bakış açısına sahip olduklarını göstermektedir.

Abstract
Taking advantage of the benefits of the tourism sector to businesses and regions is directly proportional to the quality of the service offered. Providing high quality service in the tourism sector where the human element is very important is made possible by qualified personnel with tourism education. In this respect, tourism education given in higher education institutions should be sufficient to meet changing needs of the sector and should be able to respond to expectations of the students from tourism education. The aim of this study is to reveal the expectations of the students who have started tourism education at the level of associate degree. For this purpose, a qualitative research was carried out and data were gathered about the students’ perspectives on tourism, the reasons for choosing the departmenti their views on tourism education, their expectations from the internship. The data obtained show that the students prefer the department willingly and aware of the features required by the sector, they think the internship is necessary, they aim to make a career in the sector and they have a positive viewpoint on the future of the profession.
