Abstract
Bu çalışmada, doğa filozoflarından itibaren, Sokrates öncesi filozoflara, Platon, Aristoteles ve Stoacılara kadar olan dönemde konu edilen ölçü, ölçülü olma ve orta olma kavramları Antik Çağ metinleri ve kutsal metinler (Tevrat, İncil, Kur’an-ı Kerim) üzerinden ele alınacaktır. Ölçünün yasa olarak fonksiyonu, ilahi yasa ve aklın yasası bağlamında tartışılacaktır. Bu kavramların (metron, mesotes, modus, modestia, mensura) Eski Yunanca ve Latince etimolojik incelemelerinin ışığında, felsefe tarihindeki izi sürülecektir. Mitolojide kozmik düzenin, kutsal metinlerde tanrısal yasanın ifadesi olan ölçü, Presokratik felsefede insanın uyması gereken evrensel yasaya, Sokrates, Platon ve Aristoteles’te erdemin kendisine ve Stoacılarda doğaya uygun yaşamaya karşılık gelir. Erdem kavramının temelini de oluşturan ölçü, ölçülülük ve orta olma durumu, Antik Çağ orijinal metinleri üzerinden incelenecektir.

Abstract
This study will examine the concepts of measure, moderation, and the mean, which were discussed from the time of natural philosophers to the Pre-Socratics, Plato, Aristotle, and the Stoics, through ancient and sacred texts (the Torah, the Bible, and the Quran). The function of measure as law will be discussed in the context of divine law and the law of reason. These concepts (metron, mesotes, modus, modestia, and mensura) will be traced in the history of philosophy, drawing on their etymological analyses in Ancient Greek and Latin. Measure, which represents the cosmic order in mythology and divine law in sacred texts, corresponds to the universal law that humans must abide by in Presocratic philosophy; to virtue itself in Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle; and to living in accordance with nature in the Stoics. Measure, moderation, and the mean, which form the basis of the concept of virtue, will be examined through the original texts of antiquity.
