Abstract

Ulusal veya uluslararası pazarda faaliyet gösteren kamu ve özel bankaları, küreselleşmenin yaygınlaşmasına paralel olarak teknolojide yaşanan hızlı gelişmeler sonucunda üretilen yeni bankacılık teknikleri ve türev ürünler nedeniyle pazarda yoğun rekabet ile karşı karşıya kalmışlardır. Bankaların artan rekabet sonucu karşılaşacağı riskleri başarılı bir şekilde yönetmek ve muhtemel risklerin yaratacağı tehlikeleri en aza indirmek amacıyla kendi bünyelerinde güçlü bir risk kültürü inşa etmeleri ayakta kalmaları için bir zorunluluktur. Bu çalışma ile Gaziantep ilinde faaliyet gösteren kamu ve özel banka yöneticilerinin risk kültürüne yaklaşımları ve risk kültürü hakkındaki bilgi düzeyleri ölçülmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre, kamu ve özel banka yöneticilerinin demografik özellikleri ile risk kültürü ve risk kültürünün alt boyutları olan; kurallara bağlılık ve etik sorunlar, itiraz etme ve tepki koyma ve liderlik ortalamaları arasında anlamlı bir farklılık tespit edilmiş; performans, iletişim, yeterlilik ve eğitim, risk ölçümü ve risk algısı alt boyutları ile herhangi bir anlamlı farklılık bulunamamıştır.

Abstract

Public and private banks operating in national or international markets have faced intense competition in the market due to new banking techniques and derivative products produced as a result of rapid developments in technology parallel to globalization. It is imperative for banks to survive to build a strong risk culture in their own structures in order to manage the risks successfully faced by increasingly competitive endeavors and to minimize the threats posed by possible risks. The aim of this study is to measure the knowledge levels about risk culture approaches and risk culture of public and private bank managers operating in Gaziantep province. Although the results of the study show that there is a significant difference between the demographic characteristics of public and private bank managers and the risk culture and risk culture sub-dimensions: rule-of-law and ethical issues, objection and response, and leadership averages; performance, communication, competence and education, risk measurement and risk perception subscales. The study is terminated by discussing the findings.
