Abstract

Abstract

Professional competency is to show the necessary manners in order to get desirable results in a profession. Competence come into prominence at specialties, whose area of interests is human health like psychology. Both national and international psychology associations emphasize the importance of this issue in ethic codes. The main of function of professional competence is to maintain the well-being of the people and its members. Only competent individuals could serve this purpose by firstly not harming and then helping whom needs. A student/candidate has to reach some criterions in order to be regard as competent. After assessing the use of theoretical and practical knowledge candidate gain right to become competent. On the other hand gaining right to become a competent is not enough. A component has to self-assess himself/herself frequently and has to train himself/herself or take education when he/she needs. Even though there are studies about competency there is no consensus about neither criterions nor assessments.
