Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı Sosyal Bilgiler Eğitiminde Metaverse kavramını anlamlandırmak ve tanıtmaktır. Çalışmada Metaverse kavramının geçmişten günümüze serüvenine, teknolojik gelişmeler ışığında Toplum 5.0 kavramına, Metaverse’in eğitim ile ilişkisine ve Sosyal Bilgiler Dersinde Metaverse kullanım alanları ile uygulamalarına değinilmiştir. Metaverse kavramının son yıllarda gündemi giderek meşgul etmesiyle birlikte sadece eğlence ve sosyal medya alanlarını ilgilendiren bir durum olmadığı, eğitim alanında da bu kavramın kullanım alanlarının yer aldığı görülmektedir. Sanal ve artırılmış gerçeklik teknolojileri ile birlikte sınıfların dönüşümü, öğrencilerin avatarlara bürünmesi ve öğretmenin sanal bir yönetici olarak yeni bir görev üstlenmesi en önemli değişimlerden biri olarak görülmektedir. Eğitimcilerin Metaverse’te daha fazla içerik üreterek yakın gelecekte kendisine daha çok yer bulacağı düşünülmektedir. Temel amacı etkin vatandaş yetiştirmek olan Sosyal Bilgiler Eğitimi sanal topluma evrilen bu dönemde de önemli görevler üstlenecektir.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to explain the meaning and introduce the concept of Metaverse in Social Studies Education. In the study, the adventure of the concept of Metaverse from the past to the present, the concept of Society 5.0 in the light of technological developments, the relationship of Metaverse with education, and the usage areas and applications of Metaverse in Social Studies Course are mentioned. With the concept of Metaverse occupying the agenda in recent years, it is seen that it is not only a situation that concerns the fields of entertainment and social media, but also the usage areas of this concept in the field of education. With virtual and augmented reality technologies, the transformation of classrooms, the transformation of students into avatars and the teacher's undertaking a new task as a virtual administrator are seen as one of the most important changes. It is thought that educators will find more space for themselves soon by producing more content in the Metaverse. Social Studies Education, whose main purpose is to raise active citizens, will also undertake important tasks in this period that has evolved into a virtual society.
