Abstract

Mısır’ın 1798 yılında Napolyon’un istilasıyla başlayan Batılılaşma süreci, ordunun iyileştirilmesine yönelik çalışmalarla devam etmiş, hayatın bütün alanına yayılan reform hareketi eğitimden sanata toplumsal yapıda yerini almıştır. Edebiyatı eski ihtişamına kavuşturma gayretiyle meydana getirilen tahkiye türü eserlerden sonra, Batıdan yapılan hikâye ve roman tercümeleriyle tanışan yazarlar bu yeni formlarda ürün vermeye başlamışlardır. 1919 Devrimi ile gelişen milli duygular hikâye sanatından sonra roman sanatının da çıkış noktası olmuş, Batı edebiyatlarıyla aynı süreci geçiren Mısır edebiyatında romantik, realist, postmodern ve distopik romanlar ülke sorunlarını gündem etmeye devam etmiştir. Söz konusu çalışma genelde modern Mısır edebiyatı özelde Mısır romanının doğuş ve gelişim sürecini ortaya koymayı hedeflemektedir.
