Abstract

Abstract

Language is a necessary and inevitable tool for people to express themselves. Language is a carrier of culture and tradition not only individually but also socially. Thanks to language, a community ceases to be a mass and becomes a nation. In other words, a society that cannot express what it thinks, cannot define objects, concepts and phenomena with language, cannot be expected to become a nation and establish a civilization. When we look at societies that have lost their nationhood, we see that they cannot protect their language. The relationship between language and society is discussed as an important theme in George Orwell's novel 1984 and Alev Alatlı's Schrodinger's Cat series. Here, our aim is to discuss the similarities we have identified between 1984 and the couple Kâbus and Rüya in the context of language, society, nation, new world order and the future.
