Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı, İspanyol edebiyatının önemli yazarlarından biri olarak kabul edilen ve çağdaş kısa öyküleriyle gerçekliğe karşı farklı bir bakış açısı getiren Cristina Fernández Cubas’ın Yer adlı öyküsünde ve Türk edebiyatında önemli bir yere sahip olan ve eserlerinde özellikle insan ilişkileri ve toplumsal sorunlar üzerinde duran İnci Aral’ın Siyah Lale adlı öyküsünde ölüm ve ruh kavramlarını incelemektir. Her toplum ve kültür, ölüm ötesini kendi inançları ve gelenekleri içinde farklı yorumlar. Bununla birlikte, insanın fiziksel dünyada ruh ve beden olarak yaşıyor olduğu genel bir inanıştır. Ölüm ötesi hayata ilişkin inanç konuları hususunda bireyin tutumu genel olarak psikolojik özellikler ve inanç seviyeleri doğrultusunda değişiklik göstermektedir. İki ayrı kültürün ürünü olan bu öykülerde, eşlerini kaybeden kahramanların ölüm karşısındaki benzer tutum ve davranışları, iç dünyalarında meydana gelen çalkantılar, ölümün ötesinde ruhun aidiyeti, varlığın ve yokluğun belirsizliği konu edilmektedir. Somut dünyanın fiziksel şartları içinde gerçekleşmesi imkânsız olanın, gerçekten meydana geldiğinin sanılmasından doğan fantastik bir ortam yaratılır. Düşleriyle gerçeği birbirine karıştıran, ruhsal açıdan dengesini yitirmiş bu kahramanların olağandışı deneyimleri üzerinden ölüm ve ruh kavramları sorgulanmaktadır.

Abstract
The aim of the present study is to analyze the concepts of death and soul in the story of The Place by Cristina Fernández Cubas who is regarded as one of the significant writers of contemporary Spanish literature and who brings a different perspective to reality with her short stories and in the story of Siyah Lale by İnci Aral, who has an important place in Turkish literature and emphasizes especially human relations and social problems in her works. Every society and culture interprets death and beyond within their own beliefs and traditions. However, it is a general belief that man lives in the physical world as soul and body. The attitude of the individual regarding beliefs for beyond death generally varies in accordance with the psychological characteristics and belief levels. In these stories, which are the products of two different cultures, the similar attitudes and behaviors of heroes who lost their wives, the turmoil in their inner world, the belonging of the soul beyond death and the uncertainty of existence and absence are the subjects. A fantastic environment is created from the thought that what is impossible to happen in the physical conditions of the concrete world actually occurs. The concepts of death and soul are questioned through the extraordinary experiences of these heroes, who confuse dreams with reality and have lost their spiritual balance.
