Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı ilk ve ortaokul düzeyindeki öğrencilerin bilimsel okuryazarlık düzeylerini geliştirmeye yardımcı olmak amacıyla önerilerde bulunmaktır. Bu bağlamda alanyazın incelenerek Sosyal bilgiler dersleri için öğretmen ve öğretmen adaylarına farklı ve güncel yollar sunulmuştur. Bugünün öğrenenleri, geleceği biçimlendiren bireyler olacaklardır. Bilim açısından okuryazar olmayan ve bilim, teknolojinin gerektirdiği becerilerden yoksun olan bireyler hem problem çözme, risk alma gibi becerilerden yoksun olacak hem de karşılaştıkları problemler karşısında kayıtsız kalacaklardır. Bireyler ancak bilimsel süreçleri öğrendiklerinde ve uyguladıklarında geleceği anlayabilirler ve böylelikle de ülkenin eğitim sistemi başarıya ulaşmış olur. Bu nedenle ilk ve ortaokul düzeyinde eğitim ve öğretimine devam eden bireylerin bilim ve teknolojinin insan hayatını ne ölçüde şekillendirdiğini ve biçimlendirdiğini kavramaları önemlidir. Sosyal bilgiler derslerinde öğretmenlerin ve öğretmen adaylarının bilim ve teknolojiyle ilgili konuları öğretirken uygulayacakları etkinlikler, öğrencilere soyut ve zor gibi görünen bu tip konuların öğretilmesinde kolaylık sağlayacak, derslerin hem akıcı hem de eğlenceli bir süreçte yürütülmesine yardımcı olacaktır.

Abstract
The aim of study is to make suggestions to increase the scientific literacy levels of primary and secondary school students. Concordantly, by examining the literature, different and up-to-date ways are presented to teachers and pre-service teachers for social studies lessons. Learners of today will be individuals who shape the future. Individuals who are illiterate in terms of science and who lack the skills required by science and technology will be deprived of skills such as problem solving and risk taking, and will remain indifferent to the problems they face. Individuals can understand the future only when they learn and apply scientific processes, and thus the country's education system will be successful. For this reason, it is very important for individuals who continue their education at primary and secondary school level to understand how science and technology stamp on human life. The activities that teachers and pre-service teachers will apply while teaching science and technology subjects in Social Studies lessons will help students learn abstract and complex science and technology subjects in a pleasurable and permanent way.
