Abstract
Bu makale, İslam’da hayvan hakları konusunu ele almaktadır. Konu, Kur’an, Sünnet, İslam Hukuku, İslam Toplumları, İslam Kültür ve Edebiyatı alanlarını içine almaktadır. Makale konunun bu boyutlarını bütünüyle ele almaya imkan vermediği için sadece konunun Kur’an ve Sünnet çerçevesi üzerinde durulmuştur. İçinde yaşadığımız zaman diliminde gitgide değerlerde bir yozlaşma gözlemlenmektedir. Bunun en görünür veçhesini hayvanlara karşı yapılan kötü muameleleri içeren davranışlardaki artış oluşturmaktadır. Bu kötü manzara, toplumun en temel değeri olan İslam’ın bu konudaki bakışını tekrar zihinlerde tazelemeyi gerekli kılmaktadır. Kur’an’da yirmi sekiz hayvanın ismi anılmaktadır. Ayrıca Kur’an’ın altı sûresinin ismi bir hayvanın adı ile adlandırılmıştır. Kur’an’da hayvanlar bizim gibi ümmetler olduğu vurgusu ile asla ötekileştirilmeyen, alt bir sınıfa indirgenmeyen, Allah’ı tesbih eden, O’na secde eden varlıklar olarak anlatılmaktadır. Hz. Peygamber’in Sünnet’inde ise konu daha büyük bir ehemmiyetle ele alınmaktadır. Hz. Peygamber hayvanlarla iç içe bir hayat sürmüş, devesini, atını, eşeğini isimlendirmiş, onlara güzel muamelelerde bulunmuş, hatta ihtilaflı meselelerde devesinin hakemliğine müracaat etmiştir. On beş asır öncesinden dile getirilen bu zengin bakış açısının bugün için tekrar hatırlanmaya olan ihtiyacı oldukça büyüktür

Abstract
The present paper examines the subject of animal rights in Islam. The subject in question has major implications in the Qur'an, Sunnah, Islamic Law, Islamic Societies, and the Islamic Culture and Literature. However, due to the difficulty of fully addressing such a wide range of aspects, the paper will only approach the issue within the scope of the Qur’an and Sunnah. In the current age we live in, a gradual degeneration of moral values is taking place in the wider culture and society. The most apparent manifestation of this phenomenon is the increase in animal abuse. This escalation necessitates re-envisioning the view of Islam, the most fundamental value of society, over this issue. Twenty-eight different animals are mentioned in the Qur'an and six of its surahs are named after an animal. The Qur'an emphasizes that animals are also of ummah and describes animals as beings that are never to be marginalized or reduced to a lower class, for they glorify Allah and prostrate themselves before Him. In the Sunnah of the Prophet Mohammad, the issue is handled with greater importance. The Prophet led a life in close touch with animals. He named his camel, horse, and donkey, treated them with care, and even appealed to his camel as a judge in disputed matters. This rich perspective, expressed fifteen centuries ago, needs to be remembered again today.
