Abstract

Abstract

Although the Turks have lived in many different geographical territories, among different circles of culture the analogies are too many in traditions, mode of life, constructions of dwelling houses, in the creative and decorative applied art works besides the architecture works they constructed in a long period of time. We can come to such conclusion from some investigators’ searches that the culture had belonged to the Turkish people scoped Front Asia, Small Asia and Middle Asia since ancient times. The Turks had established powerful states from each other, emperorships, created a rich culture in the places they lived and went. Holding the Asian lands The Turkish congestions have also influenced to some peoples’ cultures, the peoples (China, India, Iran, East Africa, West countries) had lived under the influence of these cultures and derived advantage from those for a long time. In the art of nomadic Turks the elements belonging to these peoples are too many, too. The Turks had helped each other in the forming their culture besides the other peoples, the works of world significance had been created from the synthesis of nomadic and sedentary cultures. We can come to such conclusion that the Turks carried hegemony in these territories for a long time had been the transmissions of some styles and cultures. The facing with a new culture during their crusade to west from east in the XI century had not confused them. On the contrary the Turks had created magnificent works from Turkish and Islamic synthesis in the middle ages. In the ornamental compositions of the architectural structures of the Middle Ages, together with the geometric, herbal and writing patterns, the drawings which emerged as the Animal style which were included in the art and architecture of the Turks from the ancient times, the Tree of Life of herbal origin also form the basis of the architectural designs of the Islamic period. Although these descriptions had been used as design elements in the monuments they are the symbolic sign of every Turk’s cosmogonic thoughts, mythology, and life style. Middle Ages Turkish architects had described these signs in coded form within the design compositions. Nowadays to decode these signs will help us for learning our history, culture our ancestors hesitated to us.
