Abstract
Robert Musil (1880- 1942) Avusturya Edebiyatı’nın en önemli isimlerindendir. Eserlerinde çoğunlukla modernitenin ortaya çıkardığı kararsızlıkları, figürleri aracılığıyla ortaya koyma ve aşma çabası yer alır. 1906 yılında yayımlanan ilk romanı “Öğrenci Törless’in Bunalımları”nda, ergenlik çağındaki yatılı okul öğrencisi Törless’in ergenlikten yetişkinliğe geçerken yaşadığı dönüşümün, ruhunda meydana getirdiği krizler anlatılır. Ancak söz konusu krizlerin ortaya çıkış şekli toplum tarafından kabul görmeyecek niteliktedir. Törless bu krizleri yaşar çünkü bir yandan kendi “ben” ini oluşturmaya çalışırken diğer yandan bunun için ihtiyaç duyduğu güvenli zemini bulamamaktadır. Arka planda bu, 1900’lü yıllarda modern dönüşümün etkisiyle toplumların ve bireylerin yaşadıkları krizlerin bir anlatımıdır. Bu nedenle Törless’in yaşadığı krizlerin iki boyutu vardır. Bu çalışmada Törless’in yaşadığı kafa karışıklıkları ve bu anlarda ortaya çıkan norm dışı cinsel dürtüsü, özellikle teknik düşüncenin göz ardı ettiği bireysel varoluşun, gerçekleştirilememesinden doğan bir kimlik bunalımının belirtisi olarak okunacaktır.

Abstract
Robert Musil (1880-1942) is one of the most important figures of Austrian literature. In his works, there is often a struggle to reveal and overcome the indecisiveness of modernity through his figures. His first novel, "The Confusions Of Young Törless " published in 1906, tells about the crises that Törless, a boarding school student in his adolescence, felt in his soul as he passed from puberty to adulthood. But the appearance of these crises is not to be accepted by society. He experiences these crises because he is trying on the one hand to create his own identity but on the other hand he can not find the safe ground he needs for it. However, this is a description of the crises that society and individuals have experienced with the influence of modern turn in the 1900s. For this reason, the crises he has experienced have two dimensions. In this work, the confusions that Törless lived and the extraordinary sexual impulses that emerged at this time, will be read as an indication of an identity crisis that arises from the fact that the individual existence is being ignored by the technical thinker.
