Abstract
Tarihte kadının konu edilmediği neredeyse hiç bir din, düşünce veya sistem olmamıştır. Geçmiş dönemlere bakıldığında görülecektir ki hemen hemen her uygarlıkta, her kültürde, her millette ataerkil aile tipi baskın gelmektedir. Bu aile tipinde kadına bir kuluçka makinesi gibi davranılmış ve kadınların mal mülk sahibi olmalarını engelleyen veya kısıtlayan çeşitli kurallar uygulanmıştır. İslamiyet’le birlikte ise kendisinden önceki toplumlarda ve kültürlerdekinin aksine kadına, önce bir varlık olarak, sonra da insan olarak verilen önem ve yükseltilen makam göze çarpmaktadır. Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’ün Cumhuriyet’in ilanından sonra yapmış olduğu yeniliklerle birlikte kadın algısı Türkiye’de ciddi anlamda gelişmiş ve batıyı örnek alan bir toplumun bu konuda batıya örnek olan bir toplum haline gelmesinde etkili olmuştur. Çalışmamızda dünya üzerinde kadın algısının tarihsel süreç içerisinde değişimi ve ülkemizde Cumhuriyetle birlikte değişen kadın rolünün demokrasi gelişimine katkıları anlatılmaya çalışılmıştır.

Abstract
Nearly no religion, thought or system existed where the women is a subject to in history. When we look at the past periods it shall be seen that patriarchal family is dominant type in almost all civilizations, cultures and nationalities. Women were treated like an incubation machine in this family type and various types of rules preventing or limiting women to become property owners were applied. Together with Islam, on the contrary to the societies and cultures before it, women strikes one’s attention first as a creature and later as a human because of the importance placed upon them and the pedestal that they are placed onto. Women perception together with the innovations done by Veteran Mustafa Kemal Ataturk after the proclamation of the republic, seriously improved in Turkey and the country became influential in being a sample society to west rather than imitating the west. In our study we tried to narrate the change of women perception in the historical period over the world and women role’s contributions to the development of the democracy together with the republic era.
