Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the perceptions of accounting professionals operating in Şanlıurfa regarding the digitalization of the profession. Furthermore, it aims to identify whether the perceptions of accounting professionals regarding the digitalization of the profession differ according to variables affecting these perceptions (gender, marital status, education level, age, and professional seniority). Research data was obtained using a survey method. The "Accounting Professionals' Perception Scale Regarding Digitalization" developed by Tekelioğlu (2022) was administered to 229 accounting professionals. Reliability analysis, ANOVA, t-test, and Tukey test were applied to the obtained data. When the participation levels of accounting professionals were analyzed, it was found that the highest participation was in the technical dimension with an average of 4.10; and the lowest participation was in the professional dimension with an average of 2.79. A significant difference in the perception of accounting professionals regarding the digitalization of the profession was found only according to the age variable. While no significant difference was found in terms of technical and professional dimensions, a significant difference was found in terms of cognitive and social dimensions. In the cognitive dimension, this difference was found between the ages of 20-29 and 50 and over, with the 50 and over age group having a more positive view of the digitalization of the profession. Similarly, in the social dimension, this difference was found between the ages of 40-49 and 50 and over, with the 50 and over age group having a more positive view of the digitalization of the profession. However, no significant difference was found between the gender, marital status, education level, and professional seniority of accounting professionals and their perception of the digitalization of the profession.
