Abstract

Abstract

Urban open green spaces are the basic elements of the quality of life that is important in cities because of the possibilities they have for nature and contact with each other. For this reason, in the scope of the study, the open and green areas which have an important position in balancing the deteriorated relation between man and nature and improving the urban living conditions are examined in the example of Trabzon city. A survey was conducted with 138 people in Trabzon to determine the purpose and types of urban open green spaces. As a result of the study, it was determined that the most used green areas were urban parks and urban green areas were mostly used to spend time with friends and family and for sitting-rest. These benefits of green spaces should be taken into consideration in the urban designs to be built.
