Translation criticism, which is related especially to the product of translation, involves a comparative analysis of the source text and the target text. The aim of a comparative analysis is to determine the factors which affect the target text and the effects of the source text on the target text. The aim of this study is to analyse the two Turkish translations of ‘L’Etranger’, written by the existentialist French writer Albert Camus and published in 1942, in terms of translation criticism. In the first stage, the era, the writer’s personality, his literary identity, his style and his message were examined to understand the source text better. In the second stage, the date of the book, its type, its content and language, the choice of words and the purpose of being written were explained and, in the third stage, 11 sentences were chosen from the text randomly and the two different translations of these sentences were found in the translated texts. Finally, the relation between the sententes in the source text and the two different translations were examined in terms of translation strategies and Gideon Toury’s Target –Oriented Approach. It was discovered that T1 was more close to the pole of ‘acceptability’ and as a result, it was more subject to the source text.

The study investigates the factors and relationships that influence trade patterns between Somalia and its trade partners. The random effects method (REM) was employed to analyze Somalia's bilateral total trade with other EAC member states. Data was collected from the World Bank and Global Economy databases. Total trade was the dependent variable, while independent variables included gross domestic product, foreign direct ınvestment, trade openness, unemployment, population, and distance. Dummy variables such as common language, common border, and land border were also included in the analysis. The study found that the GDP ratio between Somalia and its trading partners has a significant and positive impact on bilateral trade. The trade openness ratio also exhibited a strong positive relationship with trade, while the population ratio was positively correlated with the dependent variable, and the unemployment rate had a statistically significant negative effect. It was found that foreign direct ınvestment did not have a significant effect on bilateral trade. The presence of a common language was shown to significantly enhance bilateral trade flows. However, surprisingly, the existence of common borders had a significant negative impact on trade flows. This suggests that shared borders do not necessarily lead to increased trade, and highlights the need for further exploration of the economic, political, and institutional factors that shape cross-border trade dynamics.

Although informal networks can be necessary or inevitable alongside modern political institutions, it may become problematic when regional or kinship affiliations precede official rights and duties. The failure of democratization in Azerbaijan, together with other former Soviet Republics of Central Asian and Caucasus is partially explained by the “clan politics.” Providing a historical overview of clan politics in Azerbaijan, with a focus on independence after 1991, I insist that the term clans should be used carefully. Based on literature review and a fieldwork, I suggest that regional and kinship affiliations are not a key element in understanding Azerbaijani politics, although their presence should not be overlooked.

Serious Money (1987) by Caryl Churchill, is a critical analysis of the unchecked greed and systemic corruption that are the foundations of globalised capitalism, particularly during the Thatcher era in Britain. The purpose of this article is to investigate the way Churchill's play questions the ethical void that exists inside the realm of financial speculation. It sheds light on the dehumanising impacts of profit-driven systems, the cooperation that exists between governmental power and corporate interests, and the cyclical exploitation of marginalised people. Through its fragmented structure, rapid dialogue, and satirical verse, Serious Money mirrors the chaotic dynamism of deregulated markets, while characters like corporate raider Corman and disillusioned trader Scilla embody capitalism’s moral bankruptcy. The analysis highlights Churchill’s portrayal of globalization as a neocolonial force, exemplified by figures like Jacinta Condor and Nigel Ajibala, who profit from the vulnerabilities of the Global South. Simultaneously, the play underscores the human cost of this system—alienation, gender inequality, and the commodification of grief—through Scilla’s transformation from justice-seeker to profit-driven participant. By leaving narrative threads unresolved, Churchill denies catharsis, forcing audiences to confront capitalism’s enduring violence. The article argues that Serious Money remains startlingly relevant in a post-2008 world of financial crises, rising inequality, and corporate dominance, serving as both a warning and a call to reimagine economic frameworks rooted in equity and collective welfare. Combining literary analysis with socio-political critique, this study reaffirms Churchill’s legacy as a playwright who challenges audiences to question the ethical foundations of capitalism and advocate for systemic change.

The study situates black-and-white photography within an interdisciplinary framework, drawing from theories in sociology, urban studies, and visual culture. Key theoretical perspectives, including Henri Cartier-Bresson’s decisive moment, Walter Benjamin’s aura, and Roland Barthes’ punctum, provide critical lenses for analyzing photography’s ability to distill urban temporality and evoke emotional engagement. Additionally, Zygmunt Bauman’s concept of liquid modernity offers insights into the transient nature of urban life and its photographic representation. The article further explores the impact of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) on black-and-white urban photography, positioning these advancements as both an extension and redefinition of traditional photographic practice. The integration of algorithmic processing, high dynamic range (HDR) imaging, and NFTs has altered the economic and aesthetic paradigms of photography, expanding accessibility while challenging conventional notions of authenticity and artistic value. By examining these intersections of historical theory and emerging technological frameworks, this study underscores black-and-white photography’s enduring relevance in contemporary urban discourse. Ultimately, the article argues that black-and-white photography remains a potent medium for interrogating the complexities of urban existence, offering a bridge between past and present, analog and digital, tradition and innovation.

As the interaction continues in a chain, it can be situations that are perceived as unimportant and small at first, but continue to grow. While we are faced with many events or situations in the unplanned and unpredictable life in the universe, it does not come to mind that all these events actually occur according to a plan. It is normal for individuals who strive to provide the appropriate ground, who are organized, planned, who can foresee possible possibilities, who have a vision and who are conscious of responsibility, to be affected by chaotic situations with the least harm. In this study prepared accordingly, the importance of knowing chaos and chaos theories in educational management has been tried to be explained.

In the 19th century, learning was seen formally and students' failures were thought to be due to their intelligence or individual differences. Students were expected to succeed by overcoming the limitations brought about by their individual differences. In the 20th century, with psychology being seen as a branch of science, the subject of individual limitations in learning began to become a subject in its own right by scientists such as Dewey, Thorndike, and Montessori. Self-regulated learning (SRL) is a basic conceptual framework for understanding the cognitive, motivational, and emotional aspects of learning. SRL has made significant contributions to educational psychology since the first articles in which scientists began to distinguish between SRL and metacognition. Since then, publications in the field of SRL theory have increased and expanded in terms of conceptual development, and there are now several SRL models. The first sign of this evolution is that there are currently three meta-analyses on the effects of SRL: And finally, a third issue is that there is a new handbook that offers several established methods for assessing SRL. Compared to the previous handbook, the latest handbook does not have chapters dedicated to presenting new models, but focuses on specific aspects of SRL, indicating that the field has evolved and reached a more mature stage.

The project-based learning (PBL) method is a contemporary learning approach applicable at all educational levels, from preschool to university. This method allows students to engage in peer learning, socialize through interaction with others both in class and in real life, conduct research and analysis, and perform presentation activities. Students, under the guidance of their teachers, decide what and how to learn, document their findings, and present their projects to classmates, school staff, teachers, and parents. The PBL method incorporates the stages of producing scientific knowledge and provides an opportunity to showcase and present the resulting products. Through these projects, students discuss the challenges and communication problems they face, expressing them during process evaluation meetings and seeking new solution-oriented approaches. The initiation of the process in the PBL method begins with recognizing a problem, which is the most critical step. If future generations are to be raised as environmentally literate individuals, learning scenarios must move beyond merely dictating what students should and should not do. Traditional behavioral learning approaches, such as frequently repeating phrases like "We should not pollute the environment," "We should not cut down trees," "Do not litter," and "Do not dirty the classroom," combined with reward-punishment systems, may result in the desired behavioral changes. However, given the environmental issues of the 21st century, both locally and globally, the effectiveness of this method is debatable. Thus, education systems need to employ alternative learning methods that enable students to perceive existing environmental problems, seek solutions, and take action beyond transmitting correct and incorrect behaviors. This study presents examples of how primary school students can identify and solve problems through project-based learning. The study outlines stages of implementing PBL for environmental education in primary school science classes. With this method, teachers aim to provide their students with an alternative student-centered learning experience. In a world where resources are depleting rapidly and pollution continues unabated, it is evident that future generations will face numerous challenges. It is believed that primary school students can easily identify environmental problems in their surroundings and develop solutions to these problems. Individuals who develop environmental awareness at a young age are expected to inspire others as exemplary environmentally literate citizens. The teacher's awareness of their power is crucial in this regard. With determination and perseverance, teachers aiming to cultivate a generation that does not pollute the environment, embraces sustainability, and is sensitive to recycling and waste issues can lead to significant progress in addressing environmental problems. Students can mobilize their families, neighbors, communities, cities, and even regions to bring environmentally conscious citizens together and significantly contribute to solving local environmental issues. By fostering students’ sense of responsibility for environmental problems as global citizens through PBL in primary schools, teachers can lay the groundwork for innovations that will change the world. This study includes PBL activities designed to guide teachers. It is a qualitative research study conducted using document analysis, one of the qualitative research designs. Databases such as the Turkish Council of Higher Education Thesis Center, Google Scholar, university libraries, SCOPUS, and SOBIAD were searched. Original works suitable for primary school teachers have been developed. The study concludes with recommendations.

It is not yet possible to predict an earthquake disaster in advance. However, it is possible to establish early warning systems for natural disasters such as floods, landslides and storms. Predictions with a high degree of accuracy can be made with technological equipment. This study aims to examine academic studies on early warning systems in the literature. In this study, a bibliometric application was conducted to examine documents (articles, papers, books, etc.) related to the concept of "early warning systems" published in Web of Science, an international database, between the years 2000-2025, within the framework of certain criteria. In order to reveal scientific studies on the concept of early warning systems, the Web of Science database was used on January 6, 2025. As a result of the analysis, 5265 academic studies were reached. Within the scope of the study, "VOSviewer" software was used to access bibliometric analyzes and visualize the results. In the study, the countries, keywords, authors, citations and terms that stand out in the publications themed on early warning systems were revealed through a citation analysis technique called “Co-authorship, Co-occurence and Citation”. As a result of the study, it was determined that 3967 of the 5265 studies conducted between 2000 and 2025 were published as articles, 718 as reports, 80 as book chapters. It was determined that the number of studies increased since 2010 and reached its peak in 2024. It was determined that 3299 of these studies were included in the SCI Index list. It was determined that the United States of America and the People's Republic of China were the countries with the most published studies. In addition, 62 studies were published in Turkey.

Design thinking is also expressed as an analytical and creative process that involves a person in experimentation, creating mock-ups and models, collecting feedback and redesigning opportunities. The design process focuses on design thinking motivations in order to understand problems related to needs, expectations and behaviors, especially focusing on the user. The most primary action of design thinking practice is to understand and study the user through empathy. In addition, design thinking practice directly centers on the user, unlike many different design methods. When we look at current approaches in industrial design education, we can see that user-centeredness, communicating with form and design expression methods can be counted among the positive effects of various applied approaches on the designer candidate. Today's design outputs include more end-user interaction. In order to design products, applications and systems for end-users, designers need to include users in all process activities throughout the design process. In this article, the applied approaches applied within the scope of industrial design education are examined and the effect of design thinking practice in design processes is examined. In addition, how user-centeredness is addressed in applied approaches is also revealed.
This study deals with the life of Umm Kulthum bt Ali who we think is important in terms of field research because she was the granddaughter of the Prophet (sav) (pbuh), the daughter of Caliph Hazrat Ali, one of the first caliphs of the Islamic state, and the wife of Caliph Hazrat Umar. According to the narrations in the classical Islamic history and the works of the narrators, Umm Külsûm was born in Medina in 6/627. She married the Caliph Hz. Umar when she was a child. She stayed with him until his martyrdom and gave birth to two children, one girl and one boy. After the martyrdom of Caliph 'Umar, she had three more marriages. She died while she was under the marriage of Abdullah b. Ja'far. An unrealized marriage with Sa'id b. Ass, the governor of Medina, is also reported in the narrations. Umm Kulthum, who was involved in political events by assuring her father, Caliph 'Ali, about the allegiance or rebellion of her adopted son 'Abdullah b. 'Umar, went to Kufa in the context of political events and witnessed the martyrdom of her father, Hazrat 'Ali. Although it is mentioned that he was present at the incident of Karbala, we believe that this is not true and that he was confused with his half-sister Umm Kulthum due to the similarity of their names. Although the narrations state that he died on the same day as his son Zayd, there are different information about the date of his death, such as 41/661, 50/672 and after the Karbala incident 61/680. However, the information that he died in the first years of Mu'awiya's caliphate (41/661) seems to be more reliable

The marital adjustment of individuals can be influenced by various factors, including conflict resolution styles and levels of religiosity. Previous studies have shown that religiosity has been found to have a positive effect on enhancing marital adjustment, while conflict resolution styles are considered pivotal in determining relationship satisfaction and harmony. However, comprehensive studies examining the relationship among religiosity, conflict resolution styles, and marital adjustment appear to be absent from the literature. This study investigates the mediating role of conflict resolution styles (positive, negative, withdrawal, and submission) in the relationship between marital adjustment and religiosity levels among married individuals living in different cities in Turkey. The study included a total of 445 participants, consisting of 222 women and 223 men (Mage = 35.25, range = 18-75). The Conflict Resolution Styles Scale, the Dyadic Adjustment Scale, and the Traditional Religiosity Scale were utilized for data collection. Correlation analyses revealed that religiosity was negatively associated with negative conflict resolution style and positively associated with all other conflict resolution styles and marital adjustment. Marital adjustment was negatively associated with negative conflict resolution style and positively associated with all other variables except withdrawal. Results of the simple mediation model, analyzed using the Process Macro statistical tool, indicated that positive, negative, and submissive conflict resolution styles partially mediated the relationship between marital adjustment and religiosity levels. These findings particularly emphasize that interventions aimed at improving couples' positive conflict resolution skills can enhance marital satisfaction and adjustment. The positive effect of submission may be interpreted as part of reconciliation within the cultural context, where submissiveness is often valued as a way to maintain harmony in marital relationships. Additionally, when considered in terms of societal belief systems, the positive impact of religiosity on relationships is not surprising.

Although there is a kind of taboo against fortune telling socio-culturally, humanity has continued this tradition. If we were to question the main reason for this, it is a kind of curiosity. The feelings of uncertainty and inability to make sense of the future that grow up in the sense of curiosity have led people to seek hope merchants. This search for hope merchants supports the understanding that “hope is the bread of the poor” and the development of the fortune telling tradition on the X, Y, Z generations in Eskişehir, which has survived to the present day, has been discussed. The article examining the fortune telling tradition on the X, Y, Z generations of Eskişehir; The cultural, sociological and psychological dimensions of fortune telling have been discussed, and data have been collected by using qualitative research methods (observation, interview, survey) to investigate the development of the fortune telling tradition between generations and the belief in the fortune telling tradition between generations. It has been revealed that fortune telling, as a cultural heritage, continues to function as a universal bond and a search for hope in the modern world. However, these differences between generations have created diversity in the interpretation of its tradition.

The study has drawn attention to the fact that fortune telling has been a cultural phenomenon shaped by curiosity and hope for the unknown throughout human history. For Generation X, fortune telling is a tradition and an element of solidarity that takes place in the home environment. This generation, where traditional methods such as coffee fortune telling and horoscope are prominent, has considered fortune telling as a ritual that strengthens family ties. Generation Y, on the other hand, prefers to have fortune telling in social areas, turns to modern methods such as tarot and astrology, and sees fortune telling as both an individual and social activity. Although Generation Z approaches fortune telling more critically under the influence of the digital world, they prefer to have fortune telling through digital platforms and mobile applications. Tarot and astrology are more popular for this generation because they are thought to have a scientific background.

It has been shown that fortune telling is a cultural experience that differs between generations. This phenomenon, which was considered a tradition in the past, continues to exist today with functions such as entertainment, guidance and establishing social connections. The article demonstrates that fortune telling has adapted to social changes and technological innovations, thus becoming a universal phenomenon, assuming different functions across generations.

First of all, the relationships between factors such as gender, economic status, support, trust, respect, and the love expected from the spouse in marriage and marital adjustment were examined This study, which was conducted with 201 volunteer married participants in Samsun, included 108 married women and 93 married men. The study's data were collected using the Personal Information Form, Marital Adjustment Scale (MAS), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Automatic Thoughts Scale (ATS). The study's categorical variables were examined with Chi-square, and the relationship between the scales was examined with Pearson Correlation analysis. It was determined that marital adjustment and happiness levels differ according to the level of respect, trust, and support from the spouse, and as these increase, marital adjustment and happiness increase. It has been found that depression varies according to economic status, level of respect, trust in spouse and support from spouse, and that an increase in these again reduces depression. Studies have shown that negative automatic thoughts can vary based on factors such as gender, level of respect, trust in one's spouse, and the support received from a partner. Generally, men tend to have more positive thoughts, while women are more likely to experience negative thoughts. Additionally, an increase in respect, trust, and support from a spouse can lead to a reduction in negative automatic thoughts. After the correlation analysis, a positive correlation is seen between marital depression and negative automatic thoughts, while a negative correlation is seen between both and marital adjustment. Depression and negative automatic thoughts are less common in couples who are compatible in marriage than in couples who are not compatible in marriage.

The contemporary world has witnessed accelerated technological developments. While these advancements offer effective solutions to prevalent challenges in private and business sectors, they concomitantly introduce new issues, hazards, and risks. Among these, those employed in ambulance services face heightened exposure to hazards and risks due to their involvement in emergency situations and the ambience of the ambulance environment, which is frequently characterized by the presence of individuals. In the context of occupational health and safety, these employees are exposed to a range of risks, including physical (e.g., noise, vibration, radiation), chemical (e.g., latex allergy, anaphylactic shock), biological (e.g., needle stick, diseases caused by contact with blood and body fluids), ergonomic (e.g., forceful repetitive movements, inappropriate load carrying), and psychosocial (e.g., violence, burnout, depression). Moreover, these individuals may encounter secondary accidents, such as falling, slipping while departing the station to reach the incident location, and lacking sufficient information about the scene, which can lead to exposure to secondary accidents, including electric shock and fire hazards. In light of the aforementioned risks and dangers, it is imperative to examine the occupational risks faced by ambulance services employees in terms of occupational health and safety. To ensure the optimal well-being of these employees, it is imperative to implement adequate staffing levels, enhance working conditions, provide access to psychological support without the concern of stigmatization, educate personnel on how to prevent violence from patients and/or their relatives, ensure regular occupational health and safety training, and optimize work schedules and shift systems to minimize undue stress.

In this context, import and export, which divide foreign trade into two, are important components. Since the welfare of countries depends on exports, export-based growth is generally preferred. In this case, many theoretical frameworks have been put forward on the direct impact of economic growth. The study investigates the effect of foreign trade on economic growth in Turkey. For the analysis to be made, data between the years 1991-2023 in Turkey is preferred. The analysis to be made is implemented with the Eviews 10 package program. Data from the official websites of the World Trade Organization, the World Bank and TÜİK are used. The first test to be done to analyze the data is the unit root tests, which are stationarity tests. Then, the VAR model was established and Granger Causality analysis was applied. According to the findings, after the VAR model of the series that are stationary in the first difference is established, causality relationship cannot be observed. In other words, it was concluded that foreign trade has no effect on economic growth.
