Turkey's Competitiveness in International Trade and Competitive Devaluations

In the field of international trade, countries and businesses face tough competition conditions. One of the primary goals of countries and businesses is to maintain and improve their international competitiveness. Because countries and businesses with highly competitive power can get more shares from international markets, strengthen their country, and brand image, and easily adapt to new technologies.
Competitiveness in international trade depends on many factors related to macroeconomic, socio-economic, infrastructure and businesses. To maintain competitiveness, improvements should be made in all these factors, especially in technological innovations and product development, and the behaviour of competing countries and businesses should be closely monitored.
However, from time to time, countries may also resort to monetary measures to increase their competitiveness in international trade. One of these measures are devaluation or the competitive exchange rate policy in floating exchange rate systems. Due to the developments in the Turkish economy in recent years, there has been a tendency towards a competitive exchange rate policy. Devaluation and competitive exchange rate policy are protectionist measures and often do not provide the expected positive results. In this way, instead of monetary measures, it is more effective to correct all the factors that weaken the competitiveness of the economy and to take permanent measures.

This study aims to reveal the industrial policies followed in Turkey and the reflections of these national policies on the industrial sector in Gaziantep, which is the study area, in the historical process. In this direction, industrial policies in the country have been examined through written sources and literature review. The reflections of industrial policies in Gaziantep are examined with the leading industrial sectors, the effects of national policies on a sectoral basis, official institution data for the city's industry, and written and visual media sources.
Industrial policies in Turkey began to be shaped in the Ottoman Period by the decisions and the agreements made between countries, and continued with changes in the process reaching today. With the proclamation of the Republic, special attention was paid to industrial development, which is seen as the locomotive of economic development, and various legal regulations were made. The process, which started with the Izmir Economy Congress in 1923, has changed and shaped over time. Gaziantep, on the other hand, has a trade tradition with its Silk Road potential and location since the Ottoman Period. It also has a manufacturing tradition, especially in the fields of food and weaving. Even in the first years of the Republic, when the national industrial policy and investments were carried out by the state, the industrial development in the province was created by the local people's own means, and the industrial activities developed in the process and reached today. Currently, there are four OIZs and ten SISs of different sizes throughout the province of Gaziantep. Industrial activities in the city center continue in Başpınar OIZ with five stages and an area of 4295 hectares, in KSS with an area of approximately 225 hectares, and in Nizip Street and Ünaldı Region, which are the first settlements of the industry in the city.

Descartes, who pioneered modern philosophy, creates an almost epistemic break in the problem of emotions compared to the periods before him. Parallel to his understanding of the thinking (res cogitans) and space-occupying (res extansa) substance, he deals with in the spirit-body duality; With the influence of the scientific approaches that were common in his period, positions the human being as a mechanical being in terms of body. It tries to establish the interaction between the soul, which is a purely mental substance, and the body, which extends to space, with the cocoon-like gland in the brain. He also bases his theory of emotions on the soul-body dilemma and interaction. Descartes' basic thesis is that emotions are passivities or passions of the soul. He tries to reveal this with its physiological bases and also reduces all emotions to six: surprise, love, anger, grief, desire and joy. From these basic emotions, he deduces the schema of secondary or secondary emotions that are opposite and feed each other. Within the scope of this scheme, he examines emotions in detail. His approach to the problem of emotions is very important in terms of both denoting the point of distinction of modern philosophy and influencing the thinkers after him. This article, after outlining Descartes' approach to emotions, aims to discuss his classification of emotions in detail.

Measures should be taken to ensure attendance by increasing access to school. Projects to prevent early marriages should be developed and families should be made aware of this issue. Families who do not have the means should be provided with scholarships and various supports to continue their education. Especially with the families in rural areas, the obstacles to the attendance of their children to school should be determined and solutions should be developed. Transported education opportunities should be increased and the number of dormitories where students can stay should be increased.
Akhisar and its surroundings, which have hosted various civilizations since ancient times, have fertile lands in terms of agricultural production. With this feature, it is understood that agricultural activities have been carried out in the region from past to present and agricultural production forms the basis of the economy of the region. It is seen that in Akhisar, which was a district of Saruhan Sanjak within the provincial organization of the Ottoman Empire in the XVI. century, grain production had an important place and most of the agricultural lands were devoted to grain agriculture. As a matter of fact, it is understood that cereal products such as wheat, barley, oats and vetch are in the forefront in terms of production, followed by legumes such as chickpeas and lentils. It is seen that paddy production in the region is also developing, grape production is abundant, and viticulture has made significant progress. In addition, it is determined from the archive documents that various fruits such as pears, figs and almonds are grown and found in the economic structure besides the production of vegetable gardens. It is determined that cotton production is intense among industrial plants, a small amount of dyeing plants are grown, but products such as flax and hemp are not subject to tax. It is understood that some products such as walnuts, cherries and chestnuts are not commercially produced in the district. In the first and second half of the century, there are differences in the amount of production in the district. In general, it is not overlooked that there is a decrease in the total output of some products such as cotton, while an increase in production amounts is observed. It has been determined that the water mills needed to be used in the grinding of the products such as the grains grown were built and continue their activities in the region throughout the XVI. century. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the agricultural structure, production amount and diversity of Akhisar district, as well as the place of agricultural production in the general economy of the district, based on the Tahrir registers numbered 165 and 115 of Saruhan Sanjak.
