The "Plague" which is a novel of Albert Camus published in 1947 is the story of the transformation of a disaster into a destiny through the spread of epidemic, a common problem of human history, to people and the society. The novel, which is about an outbreak of plague, discusses the dilemma of despair and solidarity against the disease started in Oran, Algeria. Antonin Artaud rewrites the “Theatre of Cruelty” manifestos published in 1932 and 1933 in his book “Theatre and Its Double” in 1938. Artaud puts forward the theatre that has metaphysical and abstract content by revolting against the theory and stage studies in traditional theatre plays. Artaud establishing a parallel relationship between theatre plays and plague thinks that real theatre plays should unmask the audience to awake their subconsciousness, much like the “cruel” and “true” faces of people revealed during plague. Noting that theatre is a crisis resolved by death or recovery just like the plague Artaud states that real theatre starts in the disaster environments when the behaviors are "out of control" with the expression of the emotions arising from "direct causelessness" in disaster environment due to the plague in "The Theatre and its Double" essay. In this study; the common attitude between the plague affected large communities and caused psychological and sociological destruction, and the plague patients, theatre audience and the actors will be discussed, by emphasizing on a similar approach in “The Plague” novel by Camus and “The Theater and The Plague” essay of Antonin Artaud.

Objective: This research was done in a quasi-experimental way to determine influence of training provided by the nurse on some parameters and quality of the life for diabetic and hypertensive patients diagnosed with chronic kidney failure (CKF). Methods: The patients appropriate for criteria to study were divided as the intervention group (30) and control group (30). Data of the research was obtained through a question form and the scale of Kidney Disease Quality Of Life SF-36 (KDQOL-36) (Points vary between 0 and 100 for each dimension). High points mean improving of quality of life. The question form and KDQOL were employed for both of the groups at the beginning and end of study. The patients in the intervention group were trained based on the booklet for training. Also, the training was provided again by informing the patients about the results through phone calls. Results: After the training, except for calcium, no significant difference was determined between the groups in terms of blood parameters. However, after the training, the mean scores of all quality of life subscales increased in the intervention group (p<0.05); whereas, the mean scores of all the subscales except for the symptom subscale decreased in the control group. Conclusion: It was determined that the education given to individuals with CKF, increased the quality of life. Practice Implications: Based on results of the research, it can be recommended that quality of life diabetic and hypertensive patients diagnosed with CKF can be improved by providing training for them and their clinical indicators can be evaluated through long term follows.

Despite the importance of trust in medical settings, little is known about what trust means, what the trust actually makes, what affects trust, and how trust relates to patient attitudes and behaviors. Revealing the Trust/Mistrust to the physician and the health system will be a guide in creating health policies. In this study, we aimed to translate the Medical Mistrust Scale (MMS) developed by Thomas et al. Into Turkish and verify the validity and reliability of the Turkish version. In this study, a methodological research design was used. Exploratory factor analysis, content, structure, criterion-related validity and internal consistency reliability were evaluated. The questionnaire was applied to 263 people who agreed to participate in the study, using a face-to-face survey technique. In this study, Likert type MMS, which consists of 17 items and measures trust in health institutions, in order to obtain primary data, Likert-type "Doctoral trust Scale (DTS)" consisting of 11 items and Likert type “Generalized trust Inventory Infrastructure Scale (GTIIS)” consisting of 20 items was used. In the structure formed as a result of the analysis made to determine the factor structure with exploratory factor analysis, a total of 6 factors appeared and the percentage of variance explained was 64.22%. Cronbach's Alpha values were calculated for reliability and it was concluded that the scales were reliable since all of these values were seen to be above the limit of 0.60. Our study findings show that the Turkish version of MIS has a strong factorial structure and is a valid and reliable scale to measure the trust of the Turkish community in the system and the physician.

McDonaldization and Disneylandization in Cruise Tourism

The cruise industry is one of the largest growing sectors in the tourism industry. Many of the larger cruise ships run their own ‘ship economies’ providing floating hotels that satisfy most of the eating, drinking and even shopping needs of the passengers. Ships can carry all the supplies they need on board and often do so even where local food and goods is easily available. This enabled cruise ships to form their own consumption culture. This paper illustrates an economic approach to understanding the cruise tourism industry as a driver of economic development. The objective is to describe the role and activities of the cruise ship industry and identify sources of economic benefit and cost such that more informed local policy decisions about the cruise ship tourism might be made. Also, this paper explores the extent to which current trends within the cruiseship sector exemplify the five core principles that underpin Disneylandization and McDonaldization thesis. There are some ships that possess attributes consistent with the core principles: Efficiency Calculability, Predictability, Control. However, these vessels also exhibit qualities that are, in certain ways, inconsistent with some of these principles. Risk and post-Fordist customization, for example, have influenced cruise tourism in ways that are sometimes difficult to reconcile with Disneylandization and McDonaldization thesis.

As is known, theoretical training, research and clinical practice are the major components of professional nursing. The basic approach in applied sciences like nursing is to reveal the relationship between theory and practice and carry the theory into effect. Thus, if nursing has to reveal its potential as a profession, it is very important for theory to direct the research and practice. Because theory, practice, and research are a cyclical process defining the science of nursing. Today, however, the contradictions and differences between theory and clinical practice in nursing education continue to be an important matter. Especially the gap between theoretical training and practice which are intended to be given in the light of evidence-based practices remains a serious problem for clinicians, academician nurses and students. In addition, because the profession of nursing requires multidisciplinary work, this gap between theory and practice also affects other healthcare professionals and patient care, thus the community health negatively. Therefore, this study will broadly address some reasons and solution suggestions that may cause differences between theoretical training and practice in nursing education, such as clinical environment, excess number of students, insufficient number of instructors, difficulties experienced in conducting theoretical courses, differences in undergraduate nursing programs, and failure of evidence-based research results to reflect patient care.

The effects of mass media on people today are huge. In the globalizing world, advertisements, especially using mass media, actually aim to sell their selfies to consumers rather than consumer products. The biggest goal is to create different values. The most important tool in the transfer of these created values is ideology. The phenomenon of fashion has infiltrated the media field with globalization, has destroyed international differences with the media and advertising routes, and created new construction areas in terms of values. Today, the phenomenon of fashion has become a form of communication that reaches its consumers through all channels. It does not only include product promotion and sales, but also adopts a lifestyle for its followers of all ages. In this study, we find that the female representations that are dealt with are frequently in the foreground, especially with the body. In addition, fashion plays a major role in shaping the life of women and in defining the woman through the body. In this study, the advertisement content of the women and women magazines, which represent different ideologies, on the cover photographs of Elle and Aysha magazines were examined by using the “qualitative content analysis method”. The research method was applied to qualitative analysis method in the examination of women, which is also shown on two magazine covers selected for the purpose of the article.
An effective political management, as stable as in Turkey, the need has become widespread expectations in every segment of society since the 1970s. These demands continued to come to the agenda of the country, intensifying after each political crisis thought to be caused by the parliamentary system and constitutional structure. It was observed that different solutions were proposed against system crises such as early elections, short-term coalitions resulting from weak governments, and the Parliament's inability to elect the President for a long time. Among these solution suggestions; In addition to the changes in the structure of the political parties, and the demands for changes in the election system and the election threshold, a transformation towards the presidential system, especially in the government model, has been frequently emphasized. Turkey in April 2007, and after the selection process of the President happened, it showed an accelerating effect in the direction of the constitutional debate in the political system transformation. The parliamentary system has entered into a de facto transformation process after the constitutional amendment after the Turkish Grand National Assembly could not elect a President due to the "367 Crisis". With the election of the President by the people on August 14, 2014, it was seen that the current government system started to operate with the logic of the semi-presidential system. July 15, 2016 following the coup attempt made under the influence of the political process now that the implementation of the 2017 Constitutional Amendment 9 July 2018 after the government system, has passed into political practice as a presidential system unique to Turkey.

Consumption is a basic need that exists in all areas of our lives. Needs are used to overcome a deficiency but over time, it means having more and caused to replace socio-cultural needs rather than biological and physiological needs. Identification of new needs causes to keep dynamic of consumption and some ethical problems. Therefore the aim of this study is to examine and criticized that moveing from basic needs to unlimited needs of consumption and to examine his objections to the consumer society. It seems to overlap institutional criticisms made by Illich about consumer society with some of today's problems and consequences, considering the current cyclical developments. Considering cyclical/current developments, Illich's institutional criticisms made in the context of consumer society seem to overlap with some of today's problems and consequences. His criticisms are still up-to-date, he can find a basis for his rightfulness and in this respect he keeps a projection further. Therefore, another point of purpose in this study is trying to find out whether it overlaps with current issues and developments of the hypotheses/theories and to examine the arguments it offers by referring to the Ivan Illich example.

The issue of Ethiopian boundary with Somalia is one of those highly controversial tracts in African diplomacy and it is asserted more of artificial colonial origin that discrete one ethnic group under different administrative authorities. This article shade a new insight on the process, outcome and dynamics for the complex and multiple levels of the Anglo-Franco-Ethiopian tripartite boundary negotiation to bring up the tri-junction of the British Somaliland, French Somaliland and Ethiopian boundary as well as the reflection of the confirmation of the tri-junction for Ethiopia. Concomitantly, the article also tries to shade light about the reasons for the march of Ethiopia to ensure a legal framework to the continued uncertainty of its border with Somalia during colonial era. The study employed untapped archival resources found at the Ethiopian National Archive and Library Agency (ENALA). Apparently examination in the study framed on the agreement that were signed between Great Britain, France and Ethiopia at different times. During the process of the tripartite boundary negotiation four major segments were identified as a challenge to the tripartite boundary commission in general and to the representatives of Ethiopia in particular to discover the tri-junction and to avert the problem of the continued uncertainty of border: i) the ill specification of the tri-junction on the February 9, 1888 Anglo-French boundary accord as well as on the May 14 and March 20, 1897Anglo-Ethiopian and Franco-Ethiopian boundary report respectively; ii) the avidity of parties on negotiation to snatch additional land using the gap of former boundary accords; iii) the rigid diplomatic approach among parties to emerge as a sole winner; iv) the negative set of believe of the local tribal groups about the boundary negotiation that divide them into different administrative zones and isolate them from their kin.

In the period which started with compulsory gathering of subjects to the process of socialization and then coming up to current time, the main problem of subject was that he could not bring naturally proposed choice of independence to his own power. The pyramidal order which was set up by the ruling power leaves no option but obeying to the subject which is kept in the system as an available force. The ruling class makes use of belonging problem of subject as a finite entity and does this by fusing in the power of infinite entity, the term of holiness. However although the current force asserts that its power is based on God, its existence could only last until Renaissance, all the corruption could not be carried further on and it ended with an inner explosion. After all the future of subject which was enlightened with the emergence of human will move forward under the protection of the term “modern” The perception of sedentary way of living which start from the first settlement period and lasted until Medieval Age will give its place to a dynamic world, this track change happened thanks to Renaissance; therefore the way for enlightenment and scientific thinking could be cleared. Modernism which was founded on scientific thinking and secular religion is an order which controls new changes and transformations such as exchange value of object, profit in law of surplus value, transient valuelessness, fashion, freedom provided in free competition market, discharge of feudal system, emergence of capitalist bourgeois and proletariat. Modernist order which wants to sustain its power with the new social contract formed by market and technique justifies itself for managing self-phenomenon and his whole living space like a design object. In this sense new arena of the subject will the depression itself which is modernism and its ruler ship. Apart from the subject, there is another power which records this ongoing historical process in its own way and technique which is called the regime of art and its practices.

Individuals or companies have used symbols to separate their products from others throughout history. In this respect, it is possible to say that the need of the manufacturer to specify brands in a primitive sense exists in every period. This situation was transformed into a different dimension in the 19th century and became controlled by the states with the laws enacted. It is very important for the start of brand safekeeping in the same century. While the Industrial Revolution maintains its effects in Europe, the Ottoman State has rapidly changed its production style and aimed to move from the guild system to factory production. For this purpose, industrial and intellectual property conferences and trade exhibitions held in Europe were carefully followed and participation was ensured when necessary. Just after the brand laws issued in England and France, the brand law “Fabrika Ma’mulatıyla Eşya-yı Ticariyeye Mahsus Alamet-i Farikalara Dair Nizamname(Regulation on the Signs of Goods for Commercial Goods and Factory Goods)” was also published in Ottoman State in 1871 for the trade of the goods produced by factories. Except that these regulation factories were used as pluralised, they were renewed in 1888. Although this regulation, which protects the brand in many ways, was changed from time to time according to the conditions of the period, it remained in force until 1965. Trademark registration procedures were first recorded in Alamet-i Farika(Trademark) Books, and after 1931, registration records started to be published in the Resmi Sınai Mülkiyet Gazetesi(Official Industrial Property Newspaper) due to the obligation of international agreements. When the data of Alamet-i Farika (Trademark) Books, Resmi Sınai Mülkiyet Gazetesi(Official Industrial Property Newspaper)and Ticaret Vekaleti Mecmuası (Trande Magazine), which have reached today, are analyzed, it is seen that cigarette brands are much more in number compared to other brands.

In today's world, where the scholar is replaced by intellectual, religious knowledge by scientific knowledge and religious truth by positivist reality, Muslims need to develop a discourse apart from Western methodology that does not exclude the West but rejects an orientalist approach conceptually. Muslims have to reconstruct the historical background of this discourse because of the methodological problem they experience in their understanding of history. Since the acceptance of a form of discourse close to the modernity’s perception of history among Muslim societies brings about a certain progress in history, Muslim thinkers are also pursuing an imagination of progress in time and space. This way of going from primitive to perfection belongs to the West, and it does not seem possible to say that there is such a trend at the core of Islam. This form of discourse, which opposes evolutionary progress in the modern sense, is not only divine but also rationally responds, yet the misinterpretation of Islam and the conclusions of these have placed us with negative social fictions many times. It is this false rehabilitatied and socio-political reality that lies behind the violence cases that are positioned as equivalent to Islam both in our country and around the world. In this context, that Muslims are getting increasingly alienated from themselves also by the western influence is not overlooked. Different interpretations of Islam are also built on this alienation. Because if we take progress as a process of evolution against Islam, or if we allow the West to explain progress this way, then it will be too difficult to prevent individuals from getting more alienated from themselves. As a result of this alienation, a sense of chronic sinfulness mistaken for returning to the essence will be felt and answers to this will be sought. The process of the emergence of this structure, which we call PYD and explain as a system giving itself common forms of behavior, is not disconnected from this chronic sinfulness context. This organization, which has Split Faith Syndrome, reveals its need for being almost anti-Islam/against Islam in the eye of the West and for integration, with low self-esteem. This attitude of the PYD is closely related to the filling of its identity cracks with chronic sinfulness. The Split Faith Syndrome implies that the irrational actions of the type that the PYD is doing now are diseased and legitimate for a patient. In this study, we will try to explain this chronic sinfulness which has jarred every bone in the body of the PYD in the form of a social psychological discourse based on Erich Fromm's Split Faith Syndrome. By discussing the socio-psychological factors that revealed PYD, we will be in an effort to analyze how it accepted these elements revealing it, how it has been using them as being false rehabilitated and the global security diplomacy to be created in response to this fiction with a socio-political language and a civil formation.

In this study, the predispositions of organizational cynicism in the workplace was examined in terms of individual psychosocial variables. As a consequent of the literature research and theoretical background investigations, it can be argued that there may be perceptions of destructive leadership in the workplace as a psychosocial variable among the variables that can explicate organizational cynicism. In addition, it is assumed that the relationship between destructive leadership and organizational cynicism may change according to certain situational factors and it can be assumed that psychological contract breach may have a mediator role. The research was conducted on the participants working in organizations from manufacturing, fast-moving consumer products, telecommunication, energy, finance, and education sectors in İstanbul. Exploratory factor analyses were carried out on the gathered data (N=260) and multiple regression analyses were conducted in order to test the hypotheses. Results showed that there is a significant association between destructive leadership and organizational cynicism. Moreover, it was observed that psychological contract breach has a mediating role on the relationship between destructive leadership and organizational cynicism. The findings were evaluated with the conceptual and practical implications. This paper is based on a PhD thesis, titled “The Relations of Perceived Destructive Leadership and Self-Construals with Employees’ Personal Psychological Disharmony and Organizational Cynicism: The Roles of Psychological Need Thwarting, Psychological Contract Breach and Task Significance”.

People are born with their biological sex, but society constucts their gender identity through their biological sex. In other words, sex is innate, but gender is acquired later. Gender differs in every society. In other words, each society created different meanings for biological sex and develops gender roles accordingly. However, although gender differs from society to society, the secondary position of women does not change in many parts of the world. For example, the concept of "heroism" and the myth of "national hero" shaped over this concept was associated with male power all over the world. The word" motherland "refers to the woman because of the word" mother". Tasks such as being a soldier, participating in the war and protecting the motherland are assigned to the man. Therefore, while protecting his homeland, the man also undertook the duty of protecting the woman, who has the connotation of "homeland". In other words, the myth of being a "national hero" built as a sacred duty includes gender roles, and makes the position of women secondary. The reason that the gender issue in this work is exemplified through the ‘national hero’ myth is that in this novel the phenomenon of gender is reinforced from the ideology of nationalism and the idea of nationalism reproduces the roles of gender. The novel begins with the story of Ashkar, a baby who loses his mother and begins life alone. It is Misra who found and raised Ashkar. In other words, Misra is his world and the only link that connects him to life. From the moment Misra finds Ashkar, a very strong bond develops between them. Ashkar is firmly attached to Misra during his early childhood years. Misra is not a woman; she is his world. However, as Ashkar grew up, he started to be under the influence of society rather than Misra and started to adopt the roles that society determined for a man. Over time, Ashkar begins to see Misra as a woman, not his universe. He sometimes accuses this woman, whom he once loved, sometimes finds her inadequate. Because Misra is a woman and always in a secondary position. As Ashkar grows, gender roles become stronger. For example, fighting is an action that symbolizes the masculine power of a man. In this novel, gender roles imposed by the society will be discussed and examined through the characters of Ashkar and Misra.

Broken Windows Theory (BWT) is a metaphor that is the subject of criminology, which emphasizes the triggering effect of small but long neglected negligence in the physical environment. According to BWT, irregularity and negligence somewhere are among the factors that cause crime. The situation of irregularity reveals two kinds of results in general, as it evokes the perception that there is no control, left unattended or left uncontrolled. The first is fear of crime, and the second is the tendency to crime and unethicalness caused by disorder. Fear of crime and the theory of broken windows, which are in the interest of criminology, are considered as the result or derivative of each other. In the context of organizational behavior, the fear of crime is the concern of being exposed to crime / unethicality (abstract / concrete) due to the disorder and unsupervision caused by “broken windows.” Among the indicators of "Broken Windows" in organizations, neglected reinforcements, faulty and neglected office or production tools, deterioration in organizational climate, and horizontal / vertical - open / implicit violence among employees. Any neglected and neglected physical or abstract situation can cause broken windows, which can cause disruptive effects on organizational functioning. In this study, Broken Windows Theory was examined in an organizational context, and explanations were made about its definition, development, effects and struggle.

Bandit means a person who is outlaw, interceptor, grabber and robber. From this definition it is clearly understood that banditry is not a good issue. But it is a reality that many tails (legends)of banditry are told in Anatolia. Some legends are about the bandits as Koroğlu and Ince Memed who were protecting the people against unjustness, and ensuring their life and property safety. On the other hand some tails are about the savage cruel and killers like Durdu. The common feature of all: they were guilty men wanted to be captured by the authority. So it is obvious that there were bandits in the zones where the authority of the government was weak or there was no authority. These circumstances can clearly be seen in two novels: The Ince Memed by Yaşar Kemal and Rahmet Yolları Kesti (Rain Cut The Paths) by Kemal Tahir. In this study the point of views of the two famous and important writers about banditry through their novels mentioned above are examined. Yaşar Kemal creates a kid bandit character who had lived in Çokurova and been fighting against the cruelty of land owner called Ağa and the famine, poverty , misery in in the region where was far away from Ankara during the first years New Republic. But Kemal Tahir’s story is about a kid grew up by listening the legend of ancient bandits and his tragic end. Maraz Ali the kid had lived nearly at the same era with Ince Memet in Çorum district. As a result both novels are bout bandits. Banditry occurs in the regions far from the state Authority and in the places that people are not educated, full of unjustness, cruelty and poverty. Those bandits had tried to replace the authority and had tried to work for benefits of illegal savage bosses even if Yaşar Kemal had evaluated Ince Memed as an exception.

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, many new states were established in the Baltic, Caucasus and Central Asian regions. The domination of Tsarist and Soviet Russia, which they acquired in the past, has been a common experience for these states. In the post-Soviet era, the idea of securing their independence for these states was a new concern. Uzbekistan was also among these states. However, Uzbekistan attracted attentions with its human and natural resources. The Uzbek people heavily paid the price of the separatist mentality during the Khanates period. Islam Kerimov, who was aware of this situation, tried to reach the state to its goals with a national policy by prioritizing the "Uzbek" identity. In this study, the current situation of the young Republic of Uzbekistan, whose star shines as a regional actor, has been investigated in the light of its experience in history.
