Abstract
Ortadoğu, İslam dinin doğup yayılmasının ardından dünyanın batı kısmından hem dinsel hem de kültürel anlamda farklılık göstermiştir. Bu durum doğu batı ayrımı yüzyıllar boyu devam edecek İslam Hristiyanlık mücadelesinin görüleceği yeni bir alana sahne olmuştur. 13. y.y’ a kadar devam eden tartışmasız İslam üstünlüğü sonraki dönemde birçok alanda etkisini yitirerek sahip olduğu güç dengesini Hristiyan asıllı Avrupa’ya devretmiştir. Birçok düşünür için tartışmasız otorite olarak kabul edilen birçoğu için ise entrika ustası olarak bilinen en uzun ömürlü tarihçilerden Bernard Lewis, öncelikle Ortadoğu olarak ifade edilen bölgede sonrasında Avrupa’nın birçok ülkesinde etkili olan İslam’ın tarihsel gelişimini, Orta Doğu’nun siyasi etkilerini, İslam ve Batı modernliğinin Orta Doğu’daki yansımalarını konu alan çeşitli eserler kaleme almıştır. Bu çalışmada Lewis’in, Orta Doğu’da yapmış olduğu araştırmaları ve gözlemleri sonucunda yazmış olduğu eserleri incelenmiş olup, yazarın düşünceleri yine yazarın kendi eserleri baz alınarak düşünceleri aktarılmaya çalışılmıştır.

Abstract
The Middle East has differed from the western part of the world both religiously and culturally after the birth of Islam. This situation has witnessed a new area where the eastern and western separation will continue for many centuries, the Islamic Christian struggle. The undisputed Islamic superiority, which continued until the 13th century, has lost its influence in many areas in the following period and transferred its balance of power to Europe of Christian origin. Bernard Lewis, one of the longest-lived historians known as the master of intrigue for many, who is accepted as the undisputed authority for many thinkers, has written various works on region referred to as the Middle East, the historical development of Islam, its political effects of the Middle East and reflections of Islam and Western modernity in the Middle East. In this study, the works written by Lewis as a result of his researches and observations on the Middle East were examined and the thoughts of the author were tried to be expressed based on the author's own works.
