Abstract
Sıkça kullanılan sosyal sermaye teorisi, son çeyrek yüzyılda sosyal bilimler literatüründe yer almaya başlasa da, ilk olarak iktisat ve siyaset bilimi gibi alanlarda karşımıza çıkmış bir kavramdır. Küreselleşen Dünya görüşü ile sosyal ağ ve bağlantıların önem kazanması bu kavram üzerine araştırmacıların odaklanmasına imkân sağladı. Söz konusu kavram ekonomiden sağlığa çevremizde her alanda kullanılmasına rağmen, üzerinde hemfikir olunan net bir tanımının bulunmaması, kavramı araştırmalarında konu edinenlerin kullandıkları yöntem bağlamında kavrama birbirinden farklı anlamlar atfetmeleriyle sonuçlanmıştır. Sosyal sermayenin yapılan çalışmalarda toplum için yarar sağlayan bir etken olarak işlev görmesi de kavramın tek boyutlu ele alınmasına sebebiyet vermiştir. Söz konusu kavramın eğitim ve sağlık alanlarında etkili olduğu, suçta azalma, güvenlik, refah ve bireysel mutluluğu artırdığı tahmin edilse de toplumsal bağ ve sosyal ilişkilere zarar vermesi de olası ihtimaller arasındadır. Bu makale sosyal sermaye hakkında bu kadar olumlu yazılmış yazı varken neden toplumsal açıdan olumsuz etkilerinin detaylı bir şekilde incelemeye tabii tutulmadığı sorusu ile yola çıkılarak oluşturulmuştur. Sosyal sermayenin gelişimi ve dönüşümü hakkında bilgi verilip önde gelen çalışmalar ekseninde doğru bilindiği sanılan yanlışlar, sosyal sermayenin olumsuz etkileri yorumlar dâhilinde ele alınıp mevcut araştırmalardaki eksiklikler ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır.

Abstract
Although the frequently used social capital theory started to appear in the social sciences literature in the last quarter century, it is a concept that we first encountered in fields such as economics and political science. The globalization of the world view and the importance of social networks and connections allowed researchers to focus on this concept. Although the concept in question was used in every area of our environment from economy to health, the lack of a clear definition agreed upon, resulted in those who took the concept in their research to grasp different meanings in the context of the method they used. The fact that social capital functions as a beneficial factor for the society in the studies carried out also caused the concept to be handled one-dimensionally. Although it is estimated that the concept in question is effective in the fields of education and health, decreases in crime, increases security, prosperity and individual happiness, it is also possible that it harms social bonds and social relations. This article was created with the question of why socially negative effects are not examined in detail while there is such a positive writing about social capital. Giving information about the development and transformation of social capital, the mistakes that are thought to be known correctly in the axis of leading studies, the negative effects of social capital are handled within the comments and deficiencies in current research are tried to be revealed.
