Abstract
Küreselleşmenin tektipleştirici etkisinden kurtulmak ve yerel ekonomiyi canlandırmak amacıyla 1999 yılında İtalya’nın Orvieto kentinde Cittaslow (sakin şehir) birliği kuruldu. Kısa bir sürede uluslararası bir birliğe dönüşen Cittaslow hareketinin günümüzde 30 ülkede 252 üyesi bulunmaktadır.Türkiye’de ise 2009 yılında Seferhisar’ın üyeliği başlayan Cittaslow akımı şu anda 17 kentimizin üyeliği ile devam etmektedir. Cittaslow birliğine üye olmak için bazı kriterlere sahip olmak bazılarını da yerine getirmek gerekir. Kriterler insanların yaşam kalitesini arttırmaya yönelik çabalardan ibarettir.Bu sebeple Cittaslow hareketinin sürdürülebilirliği, kalitesi ve topluma olan etkisinin artışını sağlamak için bu kriterler önem arz etmektedir. Çalışmanın amacı , Cittaslow birliğini, kriterlerini, üyelik sürecini incelemek, ve güçlü / zayıf olduğu alanları ele alarak bu birliğin yerel kalkınma açısından dünya ve Türkiye de ki yerini araştırmaktır. Başta Seferihisar olmak üzere örneklerle ülkemizdeki Cittaslow akımının geleceği ve sürdürülebilir turizm hareketi olan Cittaslow’un Türkiye için güçlü/zayıf analizi yapılmıştır.

Abstract
In 1999, Cittaslow (calm city) was founded in the city of Orvieto in Italy in order to get rid of the unifying effect of globalization and to stimulate the local economy. The Cittaslow movement, which soon became an international union, now has 252 members in 30 countries. In Turkey, starting with the Cittaslow movement’s membership of Seferihisar in 2009 continues with our membership currently 17 city. In order to become a member of the Cittaslow Association, some criteria must be met and some of them must be fulfilled. Criteria consist of efforts to improve the quality of life of people. For this reason, these criteria are important in order to increase the sustainability, quality and impact of the Cittaslow movement. The purpose of this study is to investigate the Cittaslow Unity, criteria, examine the membership process and analyze the membership of this union strong / weak areas by taking that in terms of local development is to investigate the role of this association in the world and Turkey.
