Abstract
Bu çalışma, Hz. Peygamber’in (sas) torunu, İslâm devletinin ilk halifelerinden Halife Hz. Ali’nin kızı ve 2. Halife Hz. Ömer’in eşi olması hasebiyle alan araştırmaları açısından önem arz ettiğini düşündüğümüz Ümmü Külsûm bnt. Alî’nin hayatını konu edinmektedir. Klasik İslâm tarihi ve terâcim eserlerindeki rivayetlere göre; Ümmü Külsûm 6/627 yılında Medine’de dünyaya gelmiştir. Çocukluk çağında iken Halife Hz. Ömer ile evlenmiştir. Halifenin şehadetine kadar yanında kalmış ve halife Hz. Ömer’den biri kız diğeri erkek olmak üzere iki çocuk dünyaya getirmiştir. Halife Ömer’in şehadetinden sonra üç evlilik daha yapmıştır. Abdullah b. Ca‘fer’ın nikâhı altındayken vefat etmiştir. Medine valisi Saîd b. Âs ile de gerçekleşmemiş bir evlilik mevzusu rivayetlere yansımıştır. Evlatlığı konumundaki Abdullah b. Ömer’in biâtı yahut isyanı hususunda babası Halife Ali’ye teminat vererek siyasi olaylara dâhil olan Ümmü Külsûm, siyasi olaylar muvacehesinde Kûfe’ye gitmiş ve orada babası Hz. Ali’nin şehadetine şahit olmuştur. Kerbelâ hadisesinde bulunduğu zikredilse de bunun doğru olmadığı, isim benzerliği sebebiyle üvey kardeşi Ümmü Külsûm ile karıştırıldığı kanaatindeyiz. Rivayetlerde oğlu Zeyd ile aynı günde vefat ettiği bilgisi olmasına rağmen vefat tarihi hakkında; 41/661, 50/672 ve Kerbelâ olayı 61/680 sonrası gibi farklı bilgiler mevcuttur. Ancak Muâviye’nin hilafetinin ilk yıllarında (41/661) vefatı bilgisi daha sıhhatli gözükmektedir

Abstract
This study deals with the life of Umm Kulthum bt Ali who we think is important in terms of field research because she was the granddaughter of the Prophet (sav) (pbuh), the daughter of Caliph Hazrat Ali, one of the first caliphs of the Islamic state, and the wife of Caliph Hazrat Umar. According to the narrations in the classical Islamic history and the works of the narrators, Umm Külsûm was born in Medina in 6/627. She married the Caliph Hz. Umar when she was a child. She stayed with him until his martyrdom and gave birth to two children, one girl and one boy. After the martyrdom of Caliph 'Umar, she had three more marriages. She died while she was under the marriage of Abdullah b. Ja'far. An unrealized marriage with Sa'id b. Ass, the governor of Medina, is also reported in the narrations. Umm Kulthum, who was involved in political events by assuring her father, Caliph 'Ali, about the allegiance or rebellion of her adopted son 'Abdullah b. 'Umar, went to Kufa in the context of political events and witnessed the martyrdom of her father, Hazrat 'Ali. Although it is mentioned that he was present at the incident of Karbala, we believe that this is not true and that he was confused with his half-sister Umm Kulthum due to the similarity of their names. Although the narrations state that he died on the same day as his son Zayd, there are different information about the date of his death, such as 41/661, 50/672 and after the Karbala incident 61/680. However, the information that he died in the first years of Mu'awiya's caliphate (41/661) seems to be more reliable
