Abstract
Günümüz eğitim sisteminde öğretim materyalleri ve öğrencilerin öğrenme biçimleri çeşitlenmiştir. Bu nedenle derse göre, konuya göre, öğrenciye göre farklılık gösteren öğretim materyallerinden hangisinin sosyal bilgiler derslerinde daha etkili olduğunu belirleme ihtiyacı hissedilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı altıncı sınıf öğrencilerinin sosyal bilgiler dersinde belgesel kullanımına yönelik görüşlerini belirlemektir. Çalışma temel nitel araştırma deseninde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Katılımcıların belirlenmesinde uygun örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Buna göre çalışmada, Ankara ilinde bir devlet ortaokulunda okuyan 6. Sınıf öğrencilerinden rastgele seçilmiş ve gönüllü 10 öğrenci yer almıştır. Veriler, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile toplanmıştır. Veriler, betimsel analiz yöntemi ile çözümlenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre, belgeselin sosyal bilgiler derslerinde kullanımının öğrencinin ilgisini çeken ve öğrenmede kalıcılığı sağlayan etkili bir öğretim materyali olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

Abstract
In today's education system, teaching materials and learning styles of students have diversified. For this reason, there is a need to determine which of the teaching materials, which differ according to the course, subject, and student, is more effective in social studies courses. The purpose of this study is to determine the opinions of sixth grade students on the use of documentaries in social studies lessons. In addition, it is to define the contribution of using documentaries as teaching material in social studies lessons. The sample of the research consists of 10 randomly selected and volunteered students from 6th grade students attending 6 different branches in Pursaklar district of Ankara province. The data obtained were analyzed according to the descriptive approach. With this study, it is important in terms of social studies teachers' coursework because it allows students to read visually, understand what they watch, appeal to multiple senses, teach values, concepts, skills and allow self-learning. As a result, it has been determined that the use of documentaries (mainly short documentaries) in social studies lessons is an effective teaching material that grabs students' attention and provides permanence in learning. Therefore, it is recommended that the Ministry of National Education introduce a documentary course at every grade.
