A Metaphorical Look into the Concept of “guidance teacher in communication” in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, psikolojik danışma ve rehberlik öğretmen adaylarının “İletişimde Rehber Öğretmen”e ilişkin metaforlarını belirlemektir. Bu çalışma, Manisa Celal Bayar Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi'nde ilköğretimden 74 psikolojik danışma ve rehberlik öğretmen adayının katılımıyla gerçekleştirildi. Araştırma verileri, “İletişimde rehber öğretmen”……..gibidir; çünkü……” cümlelerini içeren bir form aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Veriler üzerinde içerik analizi yapılmış ve toplanan veriler Maslow’un ihtiyaçlar hiyerarşisine ait basamakları doğrultusunda temalar altında toplanarak kodlanmıştır. Araştırmada psikolojik danışma ve rehberlik öğretmen adayları Meyve Ağacı, Arkadaş, Antrenör, Araç, Anne, Çocukluk Arkadaşı, Sözlük, Pilot, Pusula, Lastik Toka, Kaptan, Hediye Kutusunu Açan Kişi gibi toplam 64 adet geçerli metafor elde edilmiştir. Ait olma-Sevme- Sevilme İhtiyacı kategorisinin en fazla metaforun ifade edildiği kategori olduğu görülmektedir. Bu kategoriyi üretilen metafor sayısına göre sırasıyla Güvenlik İhtiyacı, Bilme-Anlama İhtiyacı, Saygı-Saygınlık İhtiyacı kategorileri izlemektedir. Öğretmen adaylarının sahip oldukları özellikler ile Maslow’un ihtiyaçlar hiyerarşisinde yer alan basamakları arasında anlamlı ilişki olup olmadığı Ki-kare testi ile yoklanmıştır. Sonuç olarak psikolojik danışma ve rehber öğretmen adaylarının iletişimde rehber öğretmenin öneminin farkında oldukları, cinsiyet ile güvenlik ihtiyacı,mezun olunan okul, anne ve babanın eğitim düzeyi ile saygı-saygınlık ihtiyacı, kitap okuma ile bilme anlama ihtiyacı arasında anlamlı bir ilişkiler bulunmuştur.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to reveal the concept of guidance teacher in communication by means of metaphors. The analysis and interpretation of data were used content analysis techniques. Results of this study showed that 64 metaphors were developed regarding the concept of guidance teacher in communication that these metaphors gathered under Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs categories. Whether there is a meaningful relationship between the features that the prospective teachers have, and the steps in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs are examined with the Chi-squared test. As a result, it was found that psychological counseling and guidance counselor teachers candidates were aware of the importance of guidance counselor in communication, a meaningful relationship was found between gender and security need, education level of the graduating school, mother and father, need for respect and respect, need for reading and understanding.
