Abstract
Seçimler dünya üzerindeki demokrasi ile yönetilen ülkelerin en önemli olaylarından birisi olmuştur. Özgür ve demokratik seçimler, ülkelerin yönetiminde kimin söz sahibi olacağının şeffaf bir şekilde halk tarafından belirlenmesi için yapılmaktadır. Seçimlerde, bir takım adaylar, partiler veya bağımsız platformlar aracılığı ile halka, yönetime aday olduklarını ilan ederler. Son karar ise verilen vaatler ve yürütülen kampanyaların ardından halka bırakılır. Seçimler toplumsal hayata girdiği günden bu yana her ne kadar çoğunlukla öngörülebilen sonuçların çıktığı bir olgu olarak görülse de beklenmeyen, sürpriz sonuçların da çıkabildiği bir siyasi aktivitedir. Donald Trump’ın 2016 yılında kazandığı zafer, sadece ABD için değil dünya için de pek çok kesim tarafından sürprizle karşılanan bir durumdur. Bu çalışma, Trump’ın beklenmeyen zaferinin ardındaki temel sebepleri siyasal bilimler perspektifinden anlamak ve irdelemek için yapılmıştır.

Abstract
The elections have been one of the most important events of the countries governed by democracy over the world. Free and democratic elections are held in a transparent manner by the people to determine who will have the say in the management of the countries. In elections, a number of candidates publicly announce their candidacy to the public through parties or independent platforms. The final decision is left to the public after promises and campaigns. Elections are a political activism that has been seen as a phenomenon that has often been foreseeable since the days of societal life, but also has unexpected, surprising consequences. The victory of Donald Trump in 2016 is surprisingly welcomed not only by the United States but also by the world. This work was done to understand and analyze the underlying causes behind Trump's unexpected victory from the perspective of political science.
