Abstract
Cehennemin sonlu olması sözünün İbn Teymiyye'ye nispet edilmesi çok ihtilaflıdır. Bazı araştırmacılar bu sözün kendisine ait olduğunu, bazıları ona ait olmadığını bir başka gurup ta buna meyilli olduğunu ileri sürmektedir. Bu meseleye, bir mezhebin, bir kişinin veya bir ekolün görüşünün taassubuna girmeden, ışık tutulması ve kişisel temayüllerden uzak bir şekilde açıklanması daha bir önem kazanmıştır. Konuyla ilgili eski metinler takip edilerek, betimleyici bir yaklaşımla tarihi akışı içerisinde doğru görüşler hatalı sözlerden ayıklanarak ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmıştır.
Bu çalışmada, Ehli Sünnet alimlerinin görüşleri, delilleri ve münakaşaları ile beraber zikredilmiştir. İbn Teymiyye’ye nispet edilen Cehennemin sonlu olması konusundaki ihtilaflar ile ilgili açıklamalardan doğruluğu ağır basan görüşlere yer verilmiştir. Hatalı bir sonuca varmamak, okuyucunun da konu hakkında bir hükme varması, yazarın söylemediği bir şeyi başkasına isnat etmemek ya da kendisinin söylediğiyle neyi kastettiği daha iyi anlaşılır düşüncesiyle kaynaklarda geçen açıklamalar harfi harfine nakletme yoluna gidilmiştir.

Abstract
The attribution of the word that fire is finite to Ibn Taymiyya is very controversial. Some researchers argue that this word belongs to him, some do not, and another group claims that he is inclined to it. Hence the importance of this study, in which it sheds light on this issue and investigated it as a statement of the truth without intolerance to a doctrine, a party, or a person, and away from the whim of the soul. To shed light on the issue, the descriptive approach was followed to trace the texts related to the subject as stated in their sources, and the historical approach was followed in terms of judging them and clarifying what is correct from what is wrong.
In this study, the opinions of the scholars of Ahl as-Sunnah are mentioned together with their evidences and arguments. And the disagreement of scholars was presented as to the validity of this attribution to Ibn Taymiyyah and the statement of the most correct of them. In order not to come to an erroneous conclusion, for the reader to make a judgment on the subject, not to attribute something that the author did not say to someone else, or to better understand what he meant by what he said, the explanations in the sources were quoted verbatim.
