Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT The concept of quality of life is a broad concept and has been the subject of many disciplines. The urban life model, which should be especially related to the city where individuals live, is directly related to the quality of life of the cities. In this context, the quality of life performances of the capitals of the Scandinavian countries (Copenhagen-Denmark, Stockholm-Sweden, Oslo-Norway, Hesinki-Finland, Reykjavik-Iceland) and the significance of the quality of life criteria (weight coefficients) were measured. Based on the findings, the importance of the quality of life criteria (variables) according to the capitals of the Scandinavian countries (weight coefficients) within the scope of the Critic multi-criteria decision making method, from very little to less quantity, cost of living, pollution, health, property prices, purchasing power, time spent in traffic, safety and climate were listed. In the study, the quality of life performances of the capitals of the Scandinavian countries were determined by Topsis and Waspas methods, which are multi-criteria decision making techniques. According to the findings, the quality of life performance rankings of the capitals of the Scandinavian countries were listed as Copenhagen, Helsinki, Stockholm, Reykjavik and Oslo according to the Topsis method, and Copenhagen, Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo and Reykjavik according to the Waspas method. In this context, the quality of life performance values of the capitals of Copenhagen, Helsinki and Stockholm were consistent with each other according to both methods. In addition, the quality of life performance values and the order of the values of the capitals of the Scandinavian countries were determined within the framework of the Topsis and Waspas methods. This order was listed from very few to very little, such as Copenhagen, Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo and Reykjavik, which was consistent with the order determined by the Waspas method. In this context, this research has become a data set for the determination of the quality of life of the Scandinavian capitals for 2019.
