Abstract

Abbasîler Dönemine gelinceye kadar kurumsallaşamayan ve sosyal bir sınıfa dönüşemeyen ulema:(Özkan, 2007, s. 34) Abbasiler dönemine gelindiğinde halifelerin ilme destekleri, tercüme faaliyetleri, mezhepler arası mücadele, aklı önceleyen Mu’tezile mezhebinin Abbasilerin ilk asrında yönetimde etkin rol oynaması, Emeviler’e göre daha özgür bir ortamın bulunması yanı sıra Kadılkudatlık ve Beytülhikme gibi müesseselerin kurulması (Adıvar, 1987, s. 76) ile birlikte kurumsallaşmaya ve sosyal bir sınıf olarak idare ve halk nazarında etkin olmaya başlamıştır. Dönemin ulemasının özelliklerine baktığımızda İslam kültür ve medeniyetine kaynaklık edecek eserlerin oluşturulması sebebiyle kurucu ulema, fikirsel ve mezhepsel tartışmaların çokluğu sebebiyle münazaracı ulema, siyasi ve sosyolojik sebeplerle daha çok ilimle uğraşan mevali ulema, devletin himayesine girmek istemeyen sivil ulema olmak üzere dört özellik öne çıkmaktadır. Bu özelliklere sahip olan ulema bir taraftan ilmi faaliyetlerle meşgul olurken diğer taraftan da toplum ve devlet nazarında hukukçu, eğitimci, din âlimi, danışman, propagandacı gibi rolleri icra etmişlerdir. İslam toplumunda ulemanın üstlendiği bu önemli roller, ulema ile yönetici sınıfının birbiriyle etkileşimini zorunlu kılmıştır. Bu çalışmamızda Abbasiler Dönemi ulemasının özelliklerini ve ulemanın icra ettiği rolleri örneklerle incelemeye çalışacağız.

Abstract

The ulama, which could not be institutionalized and transformed into a social class until the Abbasids period: By the time of the Abbasids era, scientific support of the caliphs, translation activities, inter-sectarian struggle, Mu'tazila sect that prioritizes reason which played an active role in the administration in the first century of the Abbasids, there was a more free ambiance compared to the Umayyads beside that the establishment of institutions such as Kadılkudatlık and Beytülhikme, it began to institutionalize and become effective in the eyes of the administration and the public as a social class. When we look at the characteristics of the ulama of the period, four characteristics stand out: the founding ulama due to the creation of works that will be a source of Islamic culture and civilization, discussion ulama due to the abundance of intellectual and sectarian discussions, the ulama who are more interested in science for political and sociological reasons, and the civilian ulama who do not want to be under the patronage of the state. Ulama who had these characteristics, were busy with scientific activities, on the other hand, they performed roles such as lawyers, educators, religious scholars, consultants and propagandists in the eyes of society and the state. These important roles undertaken by the ulama in the Islamic society required the interaction the ulama with the ruling class. In this study, we will try to examine the characteristics of the Abbasid period ulama and the roles played by the ulama with examples.
