Abstract
Günümüzde kullanılan yerleşimlerin tarihsel süreç içerisinde gelişini ve günümüzdeki durumlarını algılanabilmesi için seyahatnamelere gereksinim duyulmaktadır. Gravür, fotoğraf, harita gibi görseller açısından oldukça zengin olan seyahatnameler, yerleşimlerin tarihi süreç içerisinde fiziki, ekonomik ve sosyal dokusunu yansıtan son derece önemli kaynaklardır. Mühendis olarak Anadolu’da demiryolu yapımında çalışan Henry Barkley, 1878 yılında Balkanlar ve Anadolu’ya yaptığı gezilerde başta İstanbul olmak üzere, pek çok Anadolu kentini gezmiş, tuttuğu gezi notları ile gördüğü yerleşimlerde kent, kentsel yaşam ve kentliler hakkında detaylı bilgiler sunmuştur. Bu çalışmanın amacı Henry C Barkley’in gezi notlarından Sivrihisar yerleşimine ilişkin gözlemleri aktarmaktır. Çalışma kapsamında seyyahın yaşamı ve gözlemlediği yerleşimlere ilişkin gezi notlarından söz edilmiş ve seyyahın Bursa, Kirmasti, İnegöl ve Eskişehir üzerinden, 4-5 Ekim 1878 tarihinde ziyaret ettiği Sivrihisar hakkındaki gözlemlerine yer verilmiştir

Abstract
Travel books are needed in order to perceive the arrival of the settlements used today in the historical process and their current situation. Travel books, which are very rich in terms of images such as engravings, photographs and maps, are extremely important resources that reflect the physical, economic and social structure of the settlements in historical process. Henry Barkley, who worked in railway construction in Anatolia as an engineer, visited many Anatolian cities, especially Istanbul, during his trips to the Balkans and Anatolia in 1878, and provided detailed information about the city, urban life and citizens in the settlements he saw with his travel notes. The aim of this study is to convey the observations about Sivrihisar settlement from Henry C.Barkley’s travel notes. Within the scope of study, the travel notes about the traveller’s life and the settlement he observations about Sivrihisar, which he visited on October 4-5, 1878 over Bursa Kirmasti, İnegöl and Eskişehir.
