Abstract

Abstract

According to Deleuzian perspective, the concept of affect is seen as the main element that reveals artistic productions. In the course of life, we encounter countless forces, and as a result of these encounters, the forces acting on the body are met by the body before the conscious subject enters into action and a suitable response is produced for them. It is possible to characterize these states, which correspond to the intensity states surrounding the body, as becoming-imperceptible. Making the affects that arise during this unperceptible process is a task that only art can overcome, visible. There are different means of expression that artists use to fulfill their task of making visible. In this context, the study presents an evaluation of the visibility of the video artist Bill Viola's works, in the light of Deleuze's movement-image and time-image views on cinema, through the concept of affect.
