Abstract
27 Mayıs 2013’te İstanbul Taksim Meydanı Yayalaştırma Projesi çerçevesinde başlatılan çalışmalar, Gezi Parkı’nda ağaçların sökülmesini durdurmaya yönelik bir çevre tepkisi olarak doğmuş ve nerdeyse ülke genelinde toplumsal eyleme dönüşmüştür. Kuşkusuz bu toplumsal eylemlere gazetecilik pratiği açısından yazılı medyada genişçe yer ayırmıştır. Toplumsal eylemler/hareketler, gelişme ve olaylar gazetelerin tirajlarını belirleyen önemli unsurların başında gelmektedir. Toplumsal gelişmeler ve toplu eylemler gazetelerin içeriğini beslerken, bu olayların haber şeklinde sunum biçimi ise gazetelerin tirajını belirlemekte etkili olabilmektedir. Her türlü toplumsal eylem ve hareketler daima yazılı medyaya malzeme verirken, gazeteler de bu toplumsal eylemlerin yayılıp büyümesine ve daha çok insan tarafından bilinmesine hizmet edebilmektedir. Ortaya çıkan bu sembiyotik ilişki sonucunda gazeteler tirajını yükseltip kâr sağlamaya hedeflemektedirler. Türkiye, bu süreci toplumsal eylemler ve gazete tirajları ilişkisinin belki de en iyi örneğini Gezi Parkı Eylemleri ile yaşayarak deneyimlemiştir. Türk medyasını başladığı an itibariyle ne yapacağı konusunda açmaza sürükleyen Gezi Parkı Eylemleri, ülkemizi siyasal, ekonomik ve sosyolojik gibi birçok konuda olduğu gibi, yazılı medyayı da tiraj konusunda önemli ölçüde ve derinden etkilemiştir. Bu çalışmayla toplumsal gelişmelerin gazetelerin tirajına etkilerinin olup/olmadığı Türkiye’de beş ulusal gazetenin dört yıllık tirajları incelenerek ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Yöntem olarak nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olan betimsel analiz tekniği kullanılmıştır ve içerik analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada Gezi Parkı Eylemleri, gazetelerin tirajlarında önemli dalgalanmalara sebep olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Effects of Social Movements on Newspaper Circulation Gezi Park Actions Events Example On May 27, 2013, studies initiated within the framework of Pedestrianization Project at Taksim Square in Istanbul was born as an environmental response to stop uprooting of trees in Gezi Park. Circulation is one of the most important pillars of the written media. While social developments and collective actions feed the content of newspapers, the way these events are presented in the form of news can be effective in determining the circulation of newspapers. While all kinds of social actions and movements always give material to written media, newspapers can serve to spread these social actions and to be known by more people. As a result of this symbiotic relationship, newspapers aim to increase their circulation and make a profit. Turkey, we had perhaps the best example of this process Gezi Park Actions of social action and newspaper circulations relationship. In this context, the objective of this study, “The Relationship between Circulation and Social Movements in Written Media in the Context of Gezi Park Actions” is to reveal whether social developments have an effect on circulations of newspapers by means of examining circulations of 5 national newspapers in Turkey. This study was prepared by descriptive analysis technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods, and content analysis were carried out. As a result of the study, it was found that Gezi Park events caused fluctuations in the circulation of newspapers.
