Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı Muğla Sıtkı Koçman Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Sınıf Öğretmenliği Anabilim dalında okuyan dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin, Muğla ili Menteşe ilçesine bağlı bir ilkokulda ‘Öğretmenlik Uygulaması II’ dersi kapsamında yaptıkları çalışmaları değerlendirmektir. Araştırma öğrencilerin bu dersin amaçlarının ne kadar farkında olduklarını ve yaptıkları çalışmaların niteliğini değerlendirmeleri bakımından önemlidir. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenomenolojik desenin kullanıldığı araştırma 8 öğrenciyle yürütülmüştür. Öğretmen adayları uygulama okullarına toplam 72 saat olmak üzere 12 hafta devam etmiş, bu süre sonunda öğretmenlik uygulaması kapsamında yürütülen çalışmalar öğretim görevlisi, sınıf öğretmenleri ve öğretmen adayları ile birlikte değerlendirilmiştir. Öğrenim süreci boyunca 8 öğretmen adayı ve 2 uygulama öğretmeni yaptıkları gözlem sonuçlarını sürekli olarak adaylarla paylaşarak sürecin etkililiğini geliştirmeyi hedeflemiştir. Sürecin sonunda sınıf öğretmeni ve öğretmen adaylarına yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu uygulanarak 8 adet açık uçlu soru sorulmuş, öğretmen adaylarının yaptıkları çalışmaların niteliği ve etkililiğini değerlendirmeleri istenmiştir. Katılımcı görüşlerinden elde edilen verilerin değerlendirilmesinde ‘içerik analizi ve betimsel analiz tekniği’ kullanılmıştır. Öğretmen adaylarının ‘Öğretmenlik Uygulaması II’ kapsamında hazırladıkları ders planları incelendiğinde, yapılan çalışmaların her bir dersin amacına uygun olduğu (ders amaçları, yöntem, teknikler ile kullandıkları materyallerin uyumu, değerlendirme ölçütleri vs) anlaşılmıştır. Öğretmen adaylarının performanslarına yönelik bulgular değerlendirildiğinde, sınıf öğretmenlerinin öğretmen adaylarının ders anlatımlarında ders öncesi hazırlık sürecini layıkıyla yerine getirdiklerini, dönem süresince etkili ve farklı materyaller kullanmaya çalıştıklarını gözlemlediklerini belirttikleri anlaşılmıştır. Görüşmeler sırasında da öğretmen adaylarının farklı teknikleri denemeye çalıştıkları ve birçoğunda başarılı oldukları, sınıf yönetimi ve davranış kontrolünde ise ilk haftalarda sınıfa alışma hususunda sıkıntı yaşasalar da ilerleyen haftalarda uyum sürecini başarıyla atlattıkları noktasında ortak görüş bildirmişlerdir. Öğretmen adaylarının sürece yönelik değerlendirilmelerine bakıldığında ise; ders öncesi hazırlık sürecinde ders planı yaptıkları, yöntem-teknik ve materyalleri dersin içeriğine ve konunun bütünlüğüne göre seçtikleri, bu sayede dersin etkililiğini arttırdıkları gözlemlenmiştir. Bu çalışmada öğretmen adaylarının ‘Öğretmenlik Uygulaması II’ dersinin amacının farkında oldukları, yaptıkları çalışmaların uygulama öğretmenleri ve kendileri tarafından nitelikli uygulamalar olarak değerlendirdikleri sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu çalışmada öğretmen adaylarının ‘Öğretmenlik Uygulaması II’ dersinin amacının farkında oldukları, yaptıkları çalışmaların öğretim görevlisi, uygulama öğretmenleri ve kendileri tarafından nitelikli uygulamalar olarak değerlendirdikleri sonucuna varılmıştır.

Abstract

The aim of the present study is to assess the practices performed by the senior students from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Faculty of Education Department of School Teaching as part of the “Teaching Practices II” course at a primary school located in Menteşe, Muğla, Turkey. The research bears a great significance in that it assesses to what extent the students are aware of the objectives of the course and the quality of the practices performed by them. Conducted using phenomenological pattern, which is one of the qualitative research methods, the research was run with 8 students. The prospective teachers administered a total of 72 hours of classes for 12 weeks at their practicing schools, and their works practiced as part of teaching practices were assessed by professional class teachers and prospective teachers together at the end of this period. The 8 prospective teachers and 2 practicing teachers intended to improve the efficiency of the process by means of continuously sharing their observations with the prospective teachers. At the end of the process, the class teachers and the prospective class teachers were administered semi-structured interview form and asked 8 open-ended questions and asked to assess the quality and efficiency of the practices performed by the prospective teachers. To analyze the data obtained through interviewing the participants, ‘content analysis and descriptive analysis techniques’ were used. As a result of the findings obtained in the application teachers 'teacher candidates' performance; in their lectures, they observed that they had fulfilled the pre-lesson preparation process well and tried to use effective and different materials during the semester. It was concluded that prospective teachers tried to try different techniques and succeeded in many of them, they had difficulty in getting used to the classroom in the first weeks of classroom management and behavior control, but they successfully survived the adaptation process in the following weeks. Prospective teachers' evaluations about the process; They observed that they made lesson plan during the pre-lesson preparation process, they chose the method-techniques and materials according to the content of the course and the integrity of the subject, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the course. They stated that when the material was used, students' interest in the lesson increased, they encountered problems from time to time in classroom management and behavior control and they tried to solve these problems by applying the techniques they learned in the 'Class Management' course. Pre-service teachers stated that they enjoyed using different techniques instead of plain narrative, and they thought that the students had the same pleasure from the lessons and evaluated in this direction. To review the lesson plans prepared by the prospective teachers as part of the ‘Teaching Practices II’ course, it was concluded that the practices performed were in line with the objectives of each course (course objectives, method, techniques, as well as the compliance of the materials used, assessment criteria, etc.).
