Abstract

Çalışma özellikleri değerlendirildiğinde, katılımcıların 47 (%30,7)’ü cerrahi, 81 (%52,9)’i dahili, 14 (%9,2)’ü yoğun bakım, 11 (%7,2)’i acil serviste çalışmaktadır.

Abstract

Patient safety and prevention of medical fallacies in every stage of health service is among the priorities of health system. Measures taken for prevention of medical fallacies in patient safety, one of the most important in care quality for health services, are the basis of patient safety. Information, skill and behavior increasing the degree of patient safety and making learning from fallacies easier can be gained through both training of health professionals and patient. The objective of this study is to research nurses’ views on patient safety culture. The sample of this descriptive cross-sectional study is a group of 153 nurses from a hospital offering tertiary care services. Data was collected between September-October 2017. Number/percentage, arithmetic average analysis was used in the process of evaluation of data. As descriptive features are analyzed, 153 nurses as total, 126 of whom are female, (82,4%) have participated in the study. Age average of nurses is 29,098±6,253; 96 (62,7%) of them have bachelor degree. If we have a look at the study, 47 (30,7%) of the participants work in the department of surgery, 81 (52,9%) in internal diseases, 14 (9,2%) in intensive care unit, and 11(7,2%) in emergency. Nurses’ work-hour average is 6,735±5,999 years. Point average of patient safety culture is 3,06 ± ,400. For all sub-dimensions, point averages are between 3,04 and 3,08. The lowest point in scale sub-dimensions has been obtained from personnel education, 3,04±,523, “the highest unexpected event and trouble ticket” from sub-dimension 3,08±,473. According to those results, nurses’ awareness on patient safety culture is over intermediate level. Nurses’ awareness on patient safety culture is over the average. So, institutions and executive nurses are suggested to provide necessary support for nursing applications on sustainability of patient safety culture.
